I have recently purchased an iPAQ 5450 but have been told that the speaker is not very effective for use with Tom Tom 2 software/GPS and can not be heard. Would I have been better to have purchased the 3970 since I have the oportunity to change before I open (and following poor shop advice !!). Many Thanks. |

I have the 5450, and as you rightly state the speaker is of little, or no use for Tom Tom. I bought the Arkon Soundfeeder SF121 Arkon SF121 to boost the sound. Trouble is you loose your CD or radio when using it.
Other than that, the 5450 is a great little unit, but it depends how many of the bells and whistles you will actually use.

Paul,
The 3970 would have been better if you could switch.
If not then take a look at the Seido mounts these include an amplifier so no interferance with your radio. I actually use mine tucked away in a storage compartment with a long lead going down to it.
If you want to use the Seido mount directly make sure you get one with a longer connecting lead as the standard one is designed for the 38/39 series and is about 3 inches too short. _________________ Mike Barrett |
