I am "reliably" informed by Navman themselves that if you have the latest Smart St Software ( Version 3 SP1 ) then you don't need this seperate driver which is for earlier versions, as it is incorporated into the Version 3 software installation. _________________ iPhone SE, TomTom Go 5000, Garmin Zumo XT. |

That's entirely true, you do however need it if you use TomTom 3 with a Navman jacket unless SmartST is also installed. _________________ Darren Griffin |

OK a mate of mine gave me an Ipaq 3630 And an Ipaq Navigation System (Made my NAVMAN) Ipaq Branded. When I insert the Sleeve I get the message "Unknown card in Socket 2". If I go into settings and choose Expansion Pack n the description is does say "Navman GPS and Compact Flash type II".
I can also go into the file explorer and read and write date to the CF card so it appears that teh Sleeve is working it is just missing the proper device drivers. Now this is where I get problems. I have Tried every version of the Serial Driver that NAVMAN (and google) can offer. Some include the GPS Info Utility but when loaded this software (depending on version) it eitehr says "Sleeve not Detected" or "GPS Receiver not attached".
As said it does not matter which version of the Serial Driver I use I always get this error.
Further to this the latest serial driver states u need firmware version 1.77 the unit was version 1.64 which I then upgraded to the latest version 1.82 tried all the installation again but still no joy. I then downgraded the Firmware to the version mentioned but the Serial Driver (1.77) and tried again and still no joy
So does anyone have any ideas?
Also btw Compaq Ipaq Firmware upgrade is a nightmare both times upgrading the firmware to version 1.82 and 1.77 I thought I had killed the device. Mainly because after it backed up the ROM it could no longer detect the device and so could not upgrade the firmware and so the device was as good as dead, but weirdly on each accasion I did a hard reset (Compaq do recommend you dont do this during a firmware upgrade due to potential failure, but what did I have to loose) and then on each occasion about the 50th attempt at loading the firmware upgrade software in found the device and began the firmware upgrade and got back to a working unit. I recommend you all downloaded romupdate btw and go into "parrot" mode on yah Ipaq and backup up your ROM to CF/SD ard then if you ever do get problems in the future you would also have a working ROM on you CF/SD Card just enter "Parrot" mode again to reload the ROM. |

Although Navman made the hardware, the iPAQ Navigation System (iNS) was only bundled with HP Navigation Software (aka CoPilot) and was subtly different requiring its own unique driver.
Try the one here.
Download, copy the .cab file to the iPAQ (remove the jacket first) locate file on iPAQ using File Explorer and double tap to install, as it is a .cab file it will self delete once installed.
Soft reset, re-attach jacket and all should be well. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Cheers those drivers worked a treat :D
It is silly how HP/Compaq dont even offer these drivers on their site for download. |
