Bluebottle wrote: | Hi,
The lockup I am talking about is as follows:-
I can use TT5 and my XDA2i without the screen freezing. I can use TT5 whilst the phone is on. As soon as I try to Download Traffic updates via the GPRS connection, TT5 will freeze, however I can press any of the Hardware buttons which minimizes TT5 and I can use the XDA2i as it should be but TT5 is still running Froze in the Background and to use TT5 again I have to Reset my XDA2i.
Basically as long as I don't download Traffic via GPRS (Via Activesync Works!) then TT5 runs very well.
Cheers

Hi Bluebottle,
I also am having the same problems you are having. (I think so are many others) In addition to the GPRS failure when downloading Traffic update when I receive a call on the phone the XDA2i locks up completely.
I have posted a support question with TOMTOM. Lets see if they respond with good news.
XDA2i
TT5 Version 5.10
P.S. I don't suppose you have had any joy with fixing this problem have you? |

What code did you put into the Corp mode number box? 0506 normally works, if no code entered it will probably load the O2 active back on, did the device tell you as a warning that it "will not load the O2 active interface"?? - Mike |

Having tried all the above, I have stumbled onto a bit of a work-around.
If you start TomTom on your XDAIIi without the SD/MMC card in it will stop saying that the maps were not found. Exit TomTom, replace the card and restart TomTom. All works OK after that. Well it does for me.
I have not done much more than try the above a dozen or so times to confirm it works though. A road test will be in a couple of days. |

The deed is done.
When I start up my XDAIIi the splash screen now says "i-Mate"
I am just installing all the O2 settings (these now need doing by hand, make sure you have them!) then I will install TomTom Navigator and update to v5.1 and see how it goes..... |

First indications are that it is no different. Inital sync is good, further updates from the traffic server freezes the phone.
Could this be an O2 gateway problem? |

(Opera users - you will need to copy and paste any links into IE for them to work)
You need to download the ROM from here: ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/PDA2_WWE_11100_144_10300_ship.exe
And the following file: http://www.bigtrucker.co.uk/files/MaUpgradeUt_noID.zip
How To:
First use WinZip or better still WinRAR to extract the ROM file to a folder on your PC
Next extract the program from the MaUpgradeUt_noID zip file into the folder you created when you extracted the ROM file in step one.
Backup you contacts etc and Soft reset your device, make sure the cradle is plugged directly into the PC, not into a hub. Put the device into the cradle. Turn OFF antivirus software, firewall software etc. and shut down all other programs. This is probably over-kill, but why chance it!
Brows to the folder created in step one. Open it and run the program called MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe it will run and then stop with an error saying that your phone is the wrong country or something like that. Run it again following the instructions on screen and your phone will be flashed with the i-Mate PDA2 ROM and software.
If it all goes wrong (and it should not) don't blame me! |
