What bugged me was it insisted on changing the screen to 'Night' sevaral times during the journey. This happened several times as I mentioned between 7.00-9.30 this morning.

Ok, forst of all do you also run satsync? The autoswitcher app uses the os date/time, if it's not set (ie satsync hasn't run) then the date it Saturday 1st Jan 2005 and the time is actually the number of hours minutes and seconds the Go has been up for. |
My cleanup.txt is as follows:
daemon|catapps/satime|
daemon|catapps/as|
and in catapps there is indeed a file called satime. |

I've changed the timezone to UTC+1 - and when I run 'What Time Is It' - it claims it's Sunday 13th Feb, 07:57 (it's actually 09:22 in the UK). |

... and I've added an icon for satime, and if you try to start it it says that it's already running. |

I think these apps are great. I know it was mentioned earlier on in the thread that the Autochanger only checked every 15 mins or so. Would it be possible to have this period between updates user configerable - ie with a switch on the command line in the clean.txt file OR have the unit check the status when turned on from standby?
It is only minor but even at this time of year I get home when it is dark but have to wait up to 15 mins for the daylight screen to kick in the following morning when I switch on again. |

Hi,
I have just got a TomTom Go 700. Really pleased with it.
I have tried the extra apps, following the instructions and using the latest versions etc.
Quickcam works fine but if i try to set the time zone nothing happens, i.e. the 700 returns to the map screen.
Am I missing something here. I have read through the forum and have tried various menu set ups etc, but to no avail.
Thanks

This is an expected bahaviour. This setting is used in conjunction with the "automatic day/night setting" only. This tool needs the time zone information to calculate the correct local time of your current position. This time is then used to calculate sunrise, sunset.
Unfortunately TT did not use the date/time information that is broadcasted by the satellites and resets the date to 2005-01-01 at every reset. Since the sun rise and set times vary with the date, this tool reads th missing information from the GPS data and applies the local time zone correction that you entered.
The time submitted by the satellites is UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) and differs from your true time by "time zone" and additionally "daylight savings time". |

There are some files in the origonal download from ScaredyCat that are not in the update. Put the missing files where they say they should go. Then another page will open. _________________ Jim-Bob
