|

I have both versions of the SW, and I like TTN3 over TTN5.
To use TT5 Maps on TTN3.1, just copy the whole Map directory to your PPC, and copy/rename the TT3 .mid file to the new directory. Work great for me, CONFIRMED! |

That is strange, since TTN3.1 has never existed. TTN3.07 was the last release. |

Assuming 3.01 was implied. |

Has anyone else tried this and had the same success?
If this does work it would be pretty handy as I currently prefer v3 to v5 too, but v5 has some map updates that would be very useful to have if they can be made to work on v3!

I had TT3 installed, upgraded to TT5, and then proceeded to run my PDA down losing everything.... oops. Took that as a sign to go back to TT3 but left the the TT5 maps on the memory card.
Tried moving the .MID file across but couldn't get TT3 to recognise it - either said "no maps installed", or if I tried to use both and Switch Map, it said "no other maps are installed".
Anybody else had any joy? tcthien - what did you actually do? step by step! |

I have TTN3.01 (build...) installed on SD card. TT3 Canada map on SD too. I copied the TT5 map folder to SD. delete .mid file. Copy Canada.mid to the new map foleder and rename it accordingly. Open TTN3 (it might ask to to register with activation code if you did not copy the mid file, then enter your activation code), switch map then navigate. |

Well i've tried this out now on my 3.07 install and am a little unsuprised to report that it doesnt work!
Copied the v5 GB map to SD, deleted mid file from v5 map folder, copied over mid file from 3.07 map folder, and launched program, and trying to switch maps reports that there are no other maps installed..
As far as i'm concerned i've understood and done this correctly and have carried out the correct steps as recommended, but sorry mate unless you can explain anything i've missed here then i have to say its a no go!
What do you mean by rename accordingly when copying over the mid file by the way, cos surely if you are copying a Canada.mid over a Canada.mid then nothing needs to be changed or renamed anyway?
Anyone else had any luck or know how to do this cos it would be well handy to use the v5 maps on my v3 install ???

Nope, it didn't work for me either!
I used a fresh copy of the TT5 Great Britain map on a fresh SD card. Substituted the .mid file, no joy, tried .mid and .pna, no joy. Tried changing the version number in the .pna file, as suggested elsewhere for other map versions. Still not working!!!
Though it pains me to say it, I don't reckon it's going to be this easy. A real shame, as I only moved to TT5 to get the newer maps. Version 5 of the software is an absolute travesty, and absolutely sucks compared with version 3. The ONLY good things to be said about TT5 is the faster map refresh rate and the landscape mode.

I've tried everything, but with no success either. I still don't understand the copying and renaming thing, as the file appears to be the same.
Very disappointed with TT5, it just keeps crashing PDA, or switches off Bluetooth GPS.
I would love to be able to use the latest maps and 7 digit postcodes, but I have reverted back to TT3, as I use map coordinates a lot of the time, TT5 doesn't have this very useful function for some reason. |

I works for me. I have TT3 Canada map with TTN3.01. I copied TT5 USA Map (e.g. District_of_Columbia-Map) to SD. Then copied and renamed (of course) the Canada.mid to District_of_Columbia.mid to TT5 map dir. That is what I did and it works.
More version info of the TT5 map:
ID=District_of_Columbia.PNA
475563164
566
I also tried other TT5 maps (California, etc.) and they all work
If you want me to verify your maps, let me know. |

I've reverted back to using v5.1 now to see whether or not the patch has made things any better with GPS accuracy etc from the initial v5.0 release so am gonna pass on this now for a bit and see how things go..
