Please help on "investing" in a GPS-receiver. I'm considering on buying an Emtac BT GPS receiver or waiting for the soon-to-be release on TomToms own bundle with a BT GPS. I would like to use the package with my IBM laptop as well as with my Ipaq 3870.
It seems like Emtac is the way to go, but on several posts I've read that there a problems with the Ipaq 3870 and the Emtac. No doubt that the the Emtac will work with a lot of devices, but investing in the TomTom bundle I get a bundle with all the necessary software, otherwise I the have to invest in TomTom N2 and maps for Denmark and Europe! But will their reciever work with the laptop and other BT devices!
Any advise? _________________ Ulrik |

Hi Ulrik and welcome,
I'm not aware of any particular issues with the Emtac BT GPs and iPAQ 3870's? We are awaiting receipt of a review TomTom BT GPS so we have yet to see whether this is a better option than the Emtac. I would expect the TomTom BT GPS to work with a PC without problems as it conforms to the BT standard but it may require a driver and we will have to test this before we can give a definitive Yes. The Emtac works fine in this way.

Many thanks to the both of you!
I now see, that You've looked at the TomTom-package for a quick review. So to be sure of a purchase, I'm now asking for an advice (again): Should I wait for the TomTom-package whenever that comes available, or is the Emtac infact a slight touch better than the TomTom (It looks like You've used that as a reference), and I would therefore be better off by going for an Emtach bundle - my reseller has that in stock!?
I'm going on holiday 10th of July, and it seems that the TomTom-solution will not be in-stock before that (in Denmark that is). It would be nice to be GPS-packed when driving through Europe!
Thank You - once again!
Best regards
