|
|
Like many TTG owners, I maintain the files (speed cameras, etc.) on the SD card of my (Classic) device by connecting the whole thing to a USB port on my (Win XP SP1) computer - which makes it look like an external USB storage device.
Except that it doesn't, always!
On an increasing number of occasions recently when I have connected TTG to a USB port and then turned it on, I have got a bleep (rather than the two-tone device recognition sound) from my PC, and TTG has loaded its navigation application rather than the usual USB screen.
I sometimes have to turn it off and on again several times before it is recognised. It often helps if I remove and replace the SD card before re-trying.
Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to have got worse with subsequent firmware versions - [I am currently on 5.200, having not got round to installing 5.201] _________________ Roger

Just a thought - maybe it would help to reset the Go before plugging in the USB cable. |

Maybe. But it used to work first time every time with no special measures - and I'm trying to get to the bottom of what may have changed.
Anyone had this problem, or got any other ideas? _________________ Roger

I have had a similar problem.
Noticed that whenever the mains charger is pluged in my computer won't recognise it. |

That's interesting!
I've just tried mine several times - with and without the mains charger - and the results certainly stack up with your findings.
I wonder why that is - it never used to happen? _________________ Roger

This has cropped up before in a few forums...
For me it only happened after the USB routines were "improved" between 5.0 (as supplied on my Go300) and 5.1
I find that if I switch the Go on BEFORE I plug in the USB cable, it now gets detected most times.
Please e-mail TomTom support and report this, as myself and others with this problem have all got replies saying "no-one else has mentioned this" :x |

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that it always makes a bit of a pop / splat sound out of the speaker as it re-boots into USB mode. Must admit I don't worry about that. |
