Hi
Ive just downloaded the 5.21 update and now want to back up my 700 to my PC.
Its been going about 20 mins already and the progress bar seems to have stopped about 70% along.
will it take over an hour to back up to my pc? or do you think it has gone wrong?
cheers

That sounds about right. I have most of Europe on a 1 Gb card and backup takes about 35 mins. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

just to let you know all you have backed up is settings not the full contents of the hard drive which contains about 1.5 gigs of imfo |

You used the TomTom CD backup! You only have saved your personal settings. Open the GO as a window and copy and paste all the enclosed files, including the hidden ones.
Or did you take the hard drive out and connect it directly? _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

How does a baked GO700 taste like? Not too crunchy? |

I only got my 700 at the weekend and the first thing I did was to do this backup as had been mentioned on this and other forums as a necessity. I did exactly as is listed above (well apart from it being folders rather than files :D) and the whole process only took a few minutes (2-3)- all 1.3GB.
I downloaded the 5.201 update last night and did a backup using the installer (the full backup option) and this also only took a few minutes and again I ended up with all 1.3GB backed up.
So in my experience (limtied I know), the backup of a 700 should take under 5 minutes. |

Does that mean that the limiting factor is the read/write to the SD card in the 300/500/Classic rather than the USB transfer rate? _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

The 700 is USB 2 i think. you need to use the installer for the latest software upgrade to make use of the backup utility. _________________ Ipaq 3970, Ipaq 2210 X2, Smart ST V1, Tomtom V3+V5, CoPilot V5, AA Navigator, Tomtom Bluetooth GPS, Navman 3450i Jacket, Navman Bluetooth GPS, Holux GM270, Fortuna GPS-PocketXtrack
