I know, annoying. However, you probably could work around it - add all favourites, while on the road, as custom POIs? |

I have lost a poi and favourites a few times on the mitac mio 168.
The .cfg file is not marked as read only. However I can see archive greyed out but ticked. Should I remove the archive tick?
At the moments I've copied the cfg file and added .bak to keep a working version close to hand, but you cant so a quick fix like this if you find you've lost all you poi's when driving, its too late then.

The archive bit is set because at some time data has been added and therefore changed the file. It will have no effect by changing it. _________________ Richard

I suffer from this issue on IPAC5540 as well. The only file I can find is Great Britain Plus Map.cfg ??

This probably dislodged the card slightly, made TT think the cfg file wasn't there, so it wrote a new one. I have had this happen also after dropping the IPAQ. I once, for no reason at all had the SD card fly out whilst driving on the M25 - TT did not like that one bit! |

I have had this too (losing favs & home location) and put it down to map switching (used TTN 5 in France). Up until then, had no problems. Is this a bug(geration)?
I'm running on a Mitac mio 168 with a 1 GB card. I would be grateful for any simple solutions to this irritating problem.
Thanks |

Home and Favourites are Map specific, so if you switch maps you change settings and information. When you switch back the original settings should still be there. _________________ Richard

I also lost all my camera warning settings today on my Ipaq 3950. It takes a ******* age to set them all up again :x :x
TTN 5.1 is pants - Its glitch after glitch with the thing.
TomTom should be sued under the trades description act (can that be done with a Dutch company??)
Is TomTom Go any better does anyone know or do I go back to TTN3 |

There are problems with TTG, but not on the scale that it seems to be with PDA's. _________________ Richard

Thanks oldboy.
I was always undecided about upgrading or going to TT Go. I plumped for TTN5 (now on 5.1) simply because it was the cheaper option - me already having the PDA/aerial etc.
The thing about Go that really appealed to me was the live traffic facility (my 3950 does not have bluetooth) although reading through some of posts over in that forum - that does not seem too great either.
I cannot comprehend how TomTom can have made such a blunder with this version. TTN 2 and 3 were absolutely fantastic.
I do like the 7 digit postcode facility in TTN5 and the updated maps are better.
I can overlook annoying matters like it taking me right around a roundabout to the 5th exit, instead of telling me to take the 1st exit which is the one I needed.
I can also forgive it for telling me that the A46 near Leisceter is a motorway and not noticing that it joins the M1 2 miles furter on - BUT when it forgets camera warnings and favourites in mid journey for no reason, I get annoyed.
Don't get me wrong - I do not speed anyway, but it's the principle of having paid for an item to do a task and it falling short (in many ways) that annoys.
I was actually running in map display only today (no route planned) - when I lost my camera warnings.
I know the area well and just had the map and warnings on for a reminder, good job I was running checkpoint in audio only as a backdrop ('cos of course we can't run that in visual mode because it causes the screen to flicker :x )
I need to road test a TT Go I think before buying one............just in case.
What facilities (if any) are missing from the GO 300 that I would have on TTN5.1 ? |

The ability to run Checkpoint or POIWarner is not available in TTG. We do have warnings, but they are distance related, not time.
There is an app that does a POI location in 2 taps of the screen (very useful).
It's also easier, I think, to load POI's on to a TTG (don't need ActivSynch).
The Maps are the same. _________________ Richard
