Is it possible to charge GR-231 on a laptop w. charge cable

I know there has been quite a few threads on what you can use the accompanying cable in the GR-231 box for. It is clear (I think) that you cannot use it to create a usb connection to a laptop. It says you can use it to charge the GR-231.

So, is it also possible to charge the unit from eg a laptop using the "charge cable" by connecting it to the USB connection on the laptop?

You are correct.
The USB cable in the 231 box is only for charging.
If you want to do anything else, then you will need the data cable which is £14.99;
