|
|
I have recently upgraded from TT2 to TT5 (navigator).
I own a DCONNEX Bluetooh GPS receiver, which worked fine with TT2.
TT5 does not recognise it, and displays 'no gps device'. I know the GPS receiver is working because I ran the GPS viewer software on my Pocket PC and instantly locked onto 5 satellites.
I have configured everything as per the info from TT support pages and have definately got the correct com port selected (COM 6).
Is anybody having the same problems? or,
Has anybody got any answers?
PLS HELP!!!

try the usual stuff
- make sure your receiver is set to NMEA mode
- make sure you don't have any other programs running that occupy the COM port
- make sure you are not using a BAD BAD BAD version of the old TT GPS (anything newer than 2.06) - if in doubt, remove the TT GPS driver completely. _________________ Lutz

I have just re-installed TT2, the GPS worked fine.
removed it then installed TT5, same again. 'No GPS Device'.
I haven't got anything else running, and for some reason, I cannot find TTgps to remove it....
Do you think this may be the problem?

Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs > TomTom ~ GPS
How about the SiRF mode? Confirmed negative? _________________ Lutz

Got rid of TTGPS, but still nothing.
You may have to help me out with the SiRF mode? Forgive my ignorance, but what is it?
The receiver is fine as I ran the GPS viewer software that came with and it locked on straight away.
I am puzzled!!! 8O

receivers can run different protocols. NMEA (text) and SiRF(binary) . Not many programs understand SiRF (TTN2 and 3 do but TTN5 demands NMEA). SO if your receiver is set to SiRF then TTN5 doesn't see it. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the advice.... :D
I have just managed to find out that the DCONNEX is set to SiRF, it says it supports NMEA data, but now I am trying to find out how to change it!
Cheers

Tried the link you listed, it did'nt work.
My 4150 runs pocket pc 2003.
I am thinking of selling my TT2 with the DCONNEX receiver and purchasing the TT5 SiRF III receiver.... they are selling for about £90 on eBay....

I had the same problem but found the answer on another forum.
Set the GPS to other wired NMEA and the the baud to 38400. You will then be asked to select a connection - in my case bluetooth on com8.
Several soft resets later I connected but the connection is very unstable - its just gone again. Even with their own wired GPS the signal kept going.
What a very very stupid system. Tom Tom really seem to have gone overboard to cock things up. |

It works....
The thing I found to do is not pair the Bluetooth GPS with the PDA.
Run TT5, configure GPS to 'other wired'...
it will automatically search for Bluetooth devices.... (make sure your GPS is turned on)
Select the GPS from the search list, mine 'hung' for a while then just came on...
Tried it a few times, on and off, on and off and had no probs....
Thanks to ALL for the advice.....
