Disconnect the Go as normal... You'll see a totally new menu arrangement...
Play about, and put the menu options where YOU want

Scaredy cat hope you dont mind me posting this on this forum.
As ScaredyCat says tho do it on a diferent card and make sure you backup.
Also this did come from the in depth forum so probably best not messing with things like this if you are not too sure what you are doing. |

thanks. Scaredycat had posted the stuff here too. The GO runs on Linux, so it is VERY important to get the folder name written exactly as mentioned above.
Now the only platform left to conquer is the Palm. Anyone tried with the new folder spelling? _________________ Lutz

Oh yes please, it was bad enought trying to send the message in the first place
I just wanted them to know i'd be happy to look at any issues they had, I just need some feedback - and someone willing to test since I only have the Go...

In addition, if you'd like to reconfigure the Change Preferences pages add this to the end of the tomtom.mnu file
Code: |
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_PREF|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE16|Preferences Page 1|
MENUITEM|TASK_ROTATE_DISPLAY|
|
Note TASK_PAGE16, the number should follow on from the previous MENUPAGE number - in this case 15.
This example, when appended to you menu, will only show the "Turn screen upside down" option, and nothing else in the Change Preferences page.

Don't know if I am reading this wrong, but is the purpose of this just to re-position the menu icons, or is it a bit more exciting than that (only asking b4 I try it out) |

These are the benefits:
- reposition the icons and save some taps, hide features you don't ever need
- discover that there are a few settings (brightness/voice prompts) that were not reachable previously _________________ Lutz

It depends, if you want to move some of the options about it's of use to all users. For example, if you often switched maps, you might want the option on the first screen. If you don't have a bluetooth phone, you might want to remove all those extra options that are greyed out...
That sort of thing..

Why did Tomtom make this function then not put it in the menu? |

Don't know, but if you look at the text, it's not even capitalised at the start of the sentence - Tut Tut.. :P
Have you tried it while out on the road? Does it do what it's supposed to?

yes, it does - gets rid of two annoyances at once. A real shame that they have decided not to implement it in the release version. _________________ Lutz
