H3950, navman jacket and tomtom navigator ?

I have the system stated above and am using tomtom navigator 4.4. can anyone help, although it is working great WHEN it finds the sats, it takes soooo long to find them, could someone recommend a diffrent way to go using my H3950 for gps and tomtom, other than using navman jacket.
Admitingly jacket is the 3000 could the later ones be much better at aquiring a signal.

quick update on my situation

sat for nearly 40min this morning waiting to get a good fix with my navman jacket, desided enough was enough so hunted around internet for a place that was relativly close to my location, found a shop about 25 miles away.

Went and brought a "Rikaline 6010 receiver", and Arkon CM620 Mount, fitted it to my 3750 ipaq, well i was well chuffed it located onto 6 satalites straight away. Great piece of kit.

OOP's nearly forgot, this was whilst the receiver was just sitting on the passenger seat .

So those of you using an old (navman jacket 3000) dont mess about any longer.
