Dont drag it - click on the icon & then click on the box you want it in.

I would be very grateful for some assistance on getting the change menu to work on my HP2210. I have a bog standard machine with TT5 loaded and working but cannot for the life of me get the change to work. Do I need an SDK programme? All assistance gratefully received but be gentle, I know I'm thick.

I tried what you have, ie
TASK_ROTATE_DISPLAY
It works, but the text under the icon says Turn display upside down, and sure enough, it rotates it by 180 degrees.
In the web editing program, the text produced says
TASK_ROTATE_DISPLAY_90
but it doesn't appear on my PDA when I load it, there is just a blank in the menu.
Because I can't see into the application, I can't find what text instruction produces the desired rotation of 90 degrees. It's in there somewhere, because that's what the factory default icon does!

I think you are missing something here, the list above only changes the first part of the menu (7 pages) the preferences part (page 4 of the first menu - spanner icon) has not changed. If you go to page 6 of the preferences menu, the rotate 90 and factory default icons are still there along with delete a map, guided tour and edit service account. |

Yes, but in my case I changed both the main menu (3 pages) AND the preferences menus (5 pages in my case because I omitted some features which I shall never want) I included the rotate 90 degrees icon, but when I put the SDKRegistry file onto my PDA that one didn't work.
I had exactly the same result using the web based editor and the one which you download to your PC.
What Robocop and I were asking was whether anyone has discover the correct line of text to make the 90 degree rotaton work.

Thanks for the advice re clicking - I know the web page says to click - but when I did nothing happened to show what I selected so I assumed I was meant to drag and it was a bad translation. Try it with the preferences menu to see weardness! Anyway - now I know that despite it appearing to do nothing when you click - the second click in the menu works.
BTW - it still screws up menu navigation if you import a file. |

You will have to accept the fact that some of them options are not implemented correctly, point to the wrong entry point or procedure etc. If we can come up with the menu items that don't work then we can send them to TomTom for consideration for the next releases. _________________ Lutz

Has anyone found a way of re-arranging the sub menus or moving items from the sub menus to the main menus.
I use the navigate to postcodes for 99% of my work. I would like to place this on the first main screen if poss or at least on the first sub menu in navigation.
Anyone any ideas how to do this. |

There is an on line menu editor at
http://www.skux.net/tomtom/menubuilder/index.php
Click the union jack to get English text. You can design the menu as you want it, then download the menu file onto your computer. Put this in the TomTom root directory inside a folder which you must name SDKRegistry.
All the icons seem to work except Rotate display 90 degrees

Use BLOCK_PREF when you want to change the options available in the preferneces screen:
Code: |
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Main Menu 1 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE2|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main Menu 2 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_ROUTE_INSTRUCTIONS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PHONE|
MENUITEM|TASK_ITINERARY|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE3|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main Menu 3 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_WEATHER|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_DOWNLOAD|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_TRAFFIC|
MENUITEM|TASK_TUTORIAL|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_GPS_STATUS|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE1|
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_PREF|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE4|Preferences 1
MENUITEM|TASK_ROTATE_DISPLAY|
|
The last 3 lines deal with the prefs screen. Notice that the TASK_PAGE count is 4 for this example. What this means is that TASK_PAGE counts start at 1 and go up - the previous menu, BLOCK_MAIN, ended on TASK_PAGE3 - so the next one should be TASK_PAGE4, even though it's actually another menu.
The example above gives a standard looking set of main menus (as per a GO), but you'll notice the Prefs menu only has the option to flip the screen.

I am still trying to get this working on the Palm. I even contacted TomTom to ask them their thoughts on why this works on the GO/PDA version, but they simply fobbed me off with a 'keep an eye on the FAQ' response.
I just had an idea and scaned through the 'munich.bin' file in the TomTom directory which I assuming is the 'code'... I found this:
"TomTom/SdkRegistry/ .cap tomtom.mnu %s%s Version AppName"
So, clearly the "TomTom/SdkRegistry" and "tomtom.mnu" file is mentioned in the Palm Code... But why it doesn't work is a mystery! |

try creating the TomTom subfolder in the program folder. Maybe the missing leading backslash is a hint. _________________ Lutz

I will try, but I don't think so as directly above this in the 'code' is an line which refers too:
TomTom/SdkFileCalls
That doesn't have a '/' is under /TomTom as default.
But I will try and create the /SdkRegistry directory all over the place to see.
Saying that, on the Palm, there is no other place to put it as /TomTom lives under root already.
