I may be (one of) the very unfortunate one(s) who can't get TomTom Mobile 5 (not 4) working on 4.2.2.1 ROM from Orange France.
I have the same problem those with TTM4 had. I open TTM5, it tells me to switch the phone off and on to complete configuration and I note it has added the GPS to my Bluetooth setup. When I reboot, TTM just won't lock onto the GPS even though it now appears in my Bluetooth device list. 'No GPS Device'
TTM5 worked fine on the previous Orange UK ROM, with the exception of Traffic. (When an auto-Traffic update would attempt whilst on a call, the entire device would grind to a halt for about 5 minutes, and I'd receive no navigation instructions.)
Seems I can't win.
Any idea what causes this issue with the Bluetooth setup for TomTom GPS?
Thanks. _________________ CJSnet |

Update: I think this may be linked to the fact I have just discovered BT SerialPortSetup is a broken link in my Configurations folder.
The file serialportsetup.exe is in fact missing from my Windows folder on the C500.
Can anyone e-mail me the file and post here when done? Preferably someone with 4.2.2.1 ROM but I'll try either at this stage!
Thanks in advance _________________ CJSnet |

Turns out BTSerialPortSetup.exe is no longer present in C500 ROM 4.2.2.1.
I fixed this by adding COM6 as an incoming port in Settings>Bluetooth>Menu>COM Ports.
Hope this helps others. _________________ CJSnet |

Hi guys
New to the forum at least for contributing anyway I have been referring to it for a while trying to get sorted.
I have got a c500 version 4.21.1088 (is this what you are referring to as the ROM?)
I have set up the com 6 but still cannot connect to my gps alltough they are paired together (I think)
Any ideas?
Thanks |

Just looked further down the about page and answered one of my own questions, but this poses another, my ROM update version is 4.2.1.1 could this be the problem, and how do I update to 4.2.2.1
BTW I am trying to configure TTM 4 not 5.
Thanks |

i upgraded to the new rom and tt m 5 stopped working
i have the new recievera and tt5 bought direct from tt
i managed to get round this by
re run the uk rom upgrade from orange then install tt5 straight away before changing any settings in the phone or syncing your contacts back in
i believe that you just have to turn on bluetooth i did not have to configure anything
tomtom 5 has been working perfectley now for a couple of days
i did use the original tomtom sd card supplied by tomtom to install
then changed back to my bigger sd card
i also then installed destinator sp on the same sd card
i did have to tell destinator to look for com 6 otherwise that was straight forward
i have destinator for use in europe as tom tom dont yet have any maps for sale
in my opinion tom tom is the best system by far if only they sold the maps everything would be perfect
hope this helps

Had my GP-27 device working well with the old ROM version of the C500 (although had to apply the TomTom GPS traffic fix to make things work).
Upgraded to 4.2.1.1 today and can no longer get TomTom to connect to my GPS device. I followed the following steps;
Upgraded ROM.
Immediately installed TomTom 5 mobile from mini SD card.
Made sure that all the neccessary files were in place e.g. CurrentMap.dat
Created a Pairing with my GPS device, calling it TomTom Wireless GPS.
Created a new incoming COM port 6, which I've tried with the Secure Connection tickbox both on and off.
Installed the traffic GPS fix for good measure.
When I run TT5 mobile, it starts fine, lets me choose which map I want and then sits waiting for the GPS connection and the blue light on my receiver doesn't stop flashing.............
If I go into the GPS configuration screen within TT5, the little blue and white circle is not spinning.
Any ideas? Have I missed anything? This is driving me mental!

This is where it maybe went wrong: The Traffic GPS fix is nothing else but a adjusted Ttmobile.exe which has now set back your TT version to 4.40 (=TomTom Mobile 2005) . So if you really mean TomTom Mobile 5, re-install TtMobile.exe version 5, fix your Com ports, rename the pairing to "BT GPS" and you should be set.
If you mean Mobile 2005 (ver 4.40), i don't know.... |
