We know how to do it but we won't tell since it is not permitted by the contract that you have with TomTom to modify the maps or the POI data that they have purchased from TeleAtlas. _________________ Lutz

If you won't tell then is there any way of using your expertise on poi.dat files
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=10121
to determine the cause of the "No POI found" errors that a great many people are having with this file.
The TTN5 poi.dat file is giving a "No POI found" message for only specific categories, in particular, Petrol Stations.
I have tried using the TTN5 poi.dat file in TTN3 and it works but gives exactly the same "No POI found" message for the same categories.
This is not just on the GB map, other countries have this error but with different categories.

Can you not add the missing POI's back?
Like the missing Hospitals?

That would again be "tampering with existing data". The only way I can see at the moment is to completely replace the POI.dat with a user created collection (ba ically Open Source) of POIs - your hospital collections would need to have different lat/lon from the MI/TeleAtlas ones etc. Anyone know of such a project? _________________ Lutz

Why?
Hospitals will be where they are,
TeleAtlas don't have a copyright on the hospitals location?
If it was a case of having a different location for each POI, even I could write a simple VB app to add a random correction to all the POI's, But there's no point to it,
The biggest point is that most of the infomation from TeleAtlas seams to be out anyway, which is what we want to correct,

So, let's start an open source POI collection project then, including the information who provided the POIs (we could actually mention that in the file "These hospital POIs brought to you by Charles Brown" etc) . Anyone with enough server space to hold the POI database? _________________ Lutz

I know you know Lutz, and won't tell, that's why I'm not asking you cos you'll (PGPS) get into strife from TT
I'll hazard a guess the foreign language forums know... but I only speak/read English _________________ SW
