Hi anyone else having probs after setting up home location & any favourites, then close TT in the proper way, and then they have gone!!
Have had 2 add as a POI for my home location, strange cos any POI added is saved, also any poi ticked to display get unticked when restarted as does adding warning sounds to a POI they get unticked.
Is it just me as I have'nt seen any postings yet??
Miss the options in map mode from TT3
Ipaq 2210 :D |

TTN5 stores the map settings in the map folder in a .cfg file with the same name as the map folder.
For example: The Great_Britain map settings are in the file Great_Britain.cfg in the Great_Britain-Map folder.
Maybe this file is somehow read only? |

I'm having this problem and can't find a solution. I originally thought my PDA had incompatibility problems but with so many people having the same fault I'm now inclined think it's a bug in the software.
You'll find some short term solutions amongst the posts but none 100% effective.
I also think that many people will have this fault and not realise, they'll just think that there are no POI's and accept the message at face value.

Try using a card reader, it's also a lot faster. |

I installed the TT Nav 5 with maps to SD card.
Wanting a backup I put them to CF card as well. When running TomTom Navigator 5 with only the CF card in, it doesn't remember my "Home" location, nor does it allow me to input the "Home" location.
Presumably its some data TomTom Navigator 5 added to the SD card when setting Home location, but how can I now set the Home location to work with the other CF card ? |

I've just jury-rigged a working solution to my "Home" problem with 2 cards, SD and CF, but surely there is an easier way. With two slot PDAs commonplace, doesn't TomTom expect people may keep a backup of map data on a second card in case the first card should fail ?
Deleted all the TomTom files from the CF card. Used a card-reader and copied the all data from original card used, the SD card, across to the desktop. Then copied those files across to the CF card.
Now got the "Home" set/select working and clickable from both cards. |

I'm also having this problem on my XDA2i.
I spent ages inputting favourites to find they've all disappeared
The file isn't read only and the lock is off the card - any ideas?!

Can I join the club?
My TT5 running on iPAQ 4150 will also not remember Home, Favourites, POI settings etc. once it is turned off.
I checked the Great-Britain-Map.cfg as suggested and sure enough it shows up as read only, with the option to change this greyed out.
As I don't have a card reader I thought I'd be clever and I copied the file to my 'C' drive, where I could view it's properties and change them, deselected the tick in the read only box, applied the change and then copied the file back to my SD card. That didn't work!! Lo & behold it had changed back to read only again.
can anybody suggest a fix for this?? |

did you delete the file from your sd card before you copied it back, other wise it will not save the changes
