|
|
I'd like to use my iPaq 6340 on my motorbike, so a BT receiver is required. However, I'd really like to have the BT receiver hard wired to the bike's power, and have it hidden - a permanent, unseen mount if you see what I mean. That would require one that was switched on and off, only with the ignition of the bike. Does anyone know of something suitable at reasonable cost? |

the title of your question is actually misleading - what you need is a receiver that DOES have a on/off switch. Most of the older receivers have one, like the Emtacs. You can then leave those switched on, even with the battery removed.
Having the receiver hidden may not be such a smart idea - it needs some kind of sky view after all. An external antenna may help, so make sure your receiver has a MCX or MMCX connector for that (the Emtacs have that) _________________ Lutz

Struggling to find one of these Lutz - can you tell me an exact Emtac model that would do the job?

The Holux GR-236 has a switch and the newest chipset too. You want it to stay on all the time, so you don't have to re-fix. Current draw is infinitesimal. |

P.S. Put it inside your headlight, and add a cheapo antenna.
Only issue is if the headlight casing is metal, you may not get strong enough bluetooth. |

Actually tried it with a NavMan 4400 - works quite happily hidden away inside the fibreglass. Problem with the NavMan of course is my other problem, in that it doesn't switch on automatically with the vehicle ignition - it has a power button which you need to press...

Thanks Quant. I'll see if I can find one of those. Don't care about it staying on ALL of the time, just as long as when I turn on the ignition, it powers up without me having to touch it.
