I have just bought a Road Angel 2, but I now want to buy a TOM TOM GO 700. My question is, given that laser detection is likely to become illegal soon, is there anything that my Road Angel does that the TOM TOM can't? |

I've got the Origin B2 and the warnings are 'better' than the TTG in that you get a continuous count down to the Camera - but the day-to-day benefits of navigation with the TT make it a far better option IMO.
You say you want to get the 700 (so I guess you're planning on going to Europe). Therin lies another problem as far as the Laser detection (Road Angel/Origin). ISTR that they are already illegal in France (just having one in the car), so watch out.
Although I've got the laser detector for the Origin, its never gone off even making deliberate runs past a Safety Camera Van and Pc with hand-held. That's in a red BMW which should have been like a red rag to a bull IMO :-)
so I wonder if they're actually worth having anyway.
Happy motoring.

TTG gives a count down to camera doesn't it? Mine does. |

Ive got the B2 as well and ive binned the laser module. Like you Ive been past scamera vans and handheld plods and its never gone off.
Im thinking of getting a TTG 500 - so I can get rid of the clutter of the B2, ICN 630 and Trafficmaster YQ2 and have it all in one unit. Do you guys think it would be better or should I stick with what I got ? |

Yes, sort of. I loaded both the 'normal' Safety Cameras and the Zoned ones. Have set the 'normal' ones to 500 yds and the Zoned ones to 250, so I get two verbal warnings (only), but the countdown you refer to is a distance one on the screen - isn't it?
The B2 gives continuous (5 sec?) verbals as well as flashing Red lights if you are over the posted limit so I reckon that's a better warning (esp if SWMBO is chattering as usual :-) ).
B2 can also be set to quiet if you are under the posted limit, but I haven't relied on that - eg. local area with Truvelo in a 40; temporary road works (day) and portable signs now give a posted limit of 30. I wonder what the Truvelo is set to now (given that its 24 hr monitoring)?

My original thought was for the 500 because of the Handsfree (won't be going to Europe). In the end decided 100UKP wasn't worth it, so went for the 300. Very pleased so far and B2 will be going on E-bay shortly.

You can put the zoned files in as many times as you want just make sure the names are different then set the warning distances. (aslong as you dont put more than the extra POI limit on about 40 I think.)
But yeah the countdown I was origonaly refering to was the distance on the screen. |
