Is it because Mapsource only recognise com1-4 and your USB>serial converter is assigned a com port greter than 4?
If so try to change the com port number.
I am wondering whether a newer version of Mapsource will recognise a com port greater than 4. _________________ Pc-Mobile

Hi,
Free upgrades to Mapsource are available from the Garmin website. I'm running v6.5, which has 8 COM ports listed on the GPS tab. The "transfer" menu now seems to do an automatic search, which might find even more!
Cheers, Alan. _________________ Garmin GPS72H/76/60/45, Etrex H, Mapsource v6.5.

I also want to use DNR garmin to upload waypoint from walkingworld.com. I have found the usb to serial in device manager and it has con 15 in brackets after it. The software that came with the usb to serial lead does not indicate who made it and does not install with the add new hardware wizard. How can I change a com port to a number bet 1-8? the ports are all bluetooth enabled?? |

What OS?
You have to change the assigned com port smaller than 8.
It is simple if you know how. It can be complicated if you do not.
I cannot help you here but may be someone else will.
Or look at MS knowledge base. _________________ Pc-Mobile
