If you have the new TT Go SD card or the new model 300 are the maps up to date?
Could you check a couple of road changes in your area of the past 2 years and advise if they are on.
I find the maps on http://maps.google.co.uk/ are dated 2005 and by TeleAtlas, who I believe do the TT maps, and find they are as out of date as my present TT Go.
Thanks

Think I got fobbed off by TomTom Support to the following question
Recieved your e-mail today asking for 79euro +P&P to upgrade my UK maps etc.
I'm aware my TT Go of only 2 months old is out of and was dissapionted with that side of my purchase.
Ive looked at http://maps.google.co.uk/ which also use TeleAtlas, and find they are dated 2005 but like my TT Go the Bingley, West Yorkshire ByPass, A650, is not shown. The Junction which was greatly changes of the Bradford Ring Road with the M606 is also not on Goodle as well as My TT Go.
Will these be on your new SD disc?
No piont in me throwing away over £50 if what you are offering is no better than what I've got.
Regards
David
Thank you for your email.
The maps on TomTom Go are only as good as Tele Atlas data. The SD card upgrades contain the latest tele atlas data. We cannot guarantee that a particular road will be present on our new maps.
We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
I for one will not be buying the update.
Regards
David |

The M606 / A6177 junction in Bradford you refer to was reported in October last year by me, for what it's worth. Not got the v5 maps yet, so I don't know if it's been updated. |

The maps are the Teleatlas 2004 release 2 maps as far as I am aware. These certainly do have some changes in them as the A130 from the A129 to the A127 is finally in them. _________________ Mike Barrett |

It would be nice if either TeleAtlas or TomTom had a website which showed to maps online.
Just out of interest when a map error is reported to either TeleAtlas or TomTom what is the procedure to fix this error? Do they send out some bloke in a pair of wellies to take a look or do they put the kettle on and file the error in the 'to do later' tray? |

I second the maps online suggestion, and also the ability to compare what is in the various mapping releases.
As for what they do with the error reports, your guess is as good as mine. Hopefully that will change soon as we are planning a visit to the Teleatlas offices in Belgium. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Got a good map to find them?
Hope you are able to raise our concerns on the updateing which is seeming to take a long time.

Actually when I said soon I meant in August, still a lot sooner then roads get into the mapping data.
One of the prime reasons for going there is to raise these issues. As we get nearer the time we will start a thread requesting input from you guys. Wont do that until we have confirmed dates and an agenda. _________________ Mike Barrett |

For TeleAtlas maybe http://maps.google.co.uk/ would give you what you want they are dated 2005.

That is not quite true. They are copyright 2005 which is completely different. These maps are firstly a mixture of Navteq and Teleatlas data, and secondly are older than the original TomTom maps. _________________ Mike Barrett |

I just received the new maps today and I can confirm that the A650 Bingley bypass still isn't on. :x Considering it is a fairly major road with a considerable impact on local routing, and has been open for quite a while now, I think it's rather bad that it isn't included. |

That is encourageing info. that they are older than the current TT Go.
It makes it that the A650 Bingley By Pass, and the improved M606 junction with the Bradford Ring road have a chance of being on the new TT Go SD card.

Sorry I read and replied to MikB post before I read yours.
Well my hopes are dashed.
If this ByPass not on I wonder about the rest of the UK road network changes and now I go back to my decision NOT to buy this upgrade.

I have found that in the past it can take about 2 years from when a major road is opened until that road is in the maps. Now I know that the mapping companies are working to improve this, but it doesnt help if you live near a major road improvement!
If you take the attitude that this will be the case and decide not to buy the updated mapping then you probably never will. There will always be roads that are out of date.
I take the view that these maps will be at least 12 months more recent than the previous ones, and therefore will contain more road changes. I am "lucky" in that the A130 (completed 2 years ago) is now in the latest TomTom maps. Interestingly this is not shown on the Google map. _________________ Mike Barrett |
