When I try to install the upgrade I am given the following info " The device is full you can remove voices or maps". It is on its original SD card with the GB map plus I've downloaded the speed camera data. Looking at the files there appear to be about 20 data files each around 700KB entitled 'Recovered File Fragments' . Are they normal or can some be deleted to make more space? Any ideas ?

No, DO NOT delete these files as they are used by TTG.

The safest way to delete voice files is to do it with the installation CD but if you are really careful you can delete unwanted dataxx.chk and the associated .VIF files using the following list:-

Lang.---------Name-------.vif----dataxx.chk

I think Richard (Oldboy) means, Yes you can delete some of these files to create space BUT BE VERY CAREFUL!!

As Richard says the safest way to do this is to autorun your original CD and follow the on screen prompts for voice removal. Most of us remove all but the two english voices (Jane & Tim), unless you particularly favour a transatlantic accent.

It's confusing because Tomtom have used the .chk suffix on their filenames which is, of course, the same as windows used for checkfiles produced by dos utilities scandisc or chkdisc (the lost file fragments which might be recoverable).

Since upgrading to V5, a petrol station on the B1024 London Rd Kelvedon Essex, is now showing as being in a field. Not at the roadside.
How did that happen ?

I have tried to install v5 upgrade both from the exe file and the zip file. All I seem to get is Version 4.20. Any ideas why? Any help appreciated.

I've found the ttgoupg500.exe won't work if you have the original CD in the drive...for some reason then it only installs the version from the CD (4.400 in my case). Doh! I took the CD out and all works fine now.

Anyone have a copy of this file I can download, I like to keep a backup but accidentally deleted it from my C drive, went to Tomtom site and it sits there loading for hours and doesn't actually do anything.

Have you tried downloading the .zip file? Some browsers have trouble with the .exe.

TomTom have just released an udate to the version 5 software. Labelled V5.10 it can be downloaded from the TomTom site.

For all current versions of GO there is a route calculation speed improvement of about 20%. There is a fix for the GO300 and Traffic connectivity, obviously not much use to those of us with original GOs.

Most of the rest of the changes are for the GO500 which will use the same software.

Is it just me or does anyone else have problems with Tom Tom's web site. When i click on the download for this, it does nothing and then eventually comes up with "this page cannot be displayed". Also when i click to register my Tom Tom 300 that also doesn't work! Any advice would be good as i was going to update my Tom Tom go 300 from version 5 to 5.1

Cheers

Terry

Terry,

This happened last time TomTom issued an upgreade for downloading. The servers get stressed out and cant take the load.

Try again later and it will be fine.

since installing 5.10, I have lost the spoken directions for the speed cameras. It's back to bongs.

I have checked the data.chk file and it SEEMS like the bigger version that I downloaded earlier, and which worked with 5.0.

Does the file work with 5.1 do we know?
