|
|
I bought a Navman iCN w/ US maps installed but I find myself often on the other side of the Atlantic or in other regions not mapped on the internal drive.
Is there some way the iCN650 supports 'off road' navigation, i.e. accepting insertion of waypoints/targets w/ long/lat data etc. and displaying direction, speed, ETA etc. the same way as older units do?
Is there an option to use other than Navmans propriatory mapping software in the iCN650 unit (like Oziexlorer etc.) - would like to use the unit in e.g. South America which seems not covered by Navman software...
Thanks,

Like many of the newer PNAs the Navmans are based on Windows CE, so theoretically they could run other Windows CE programs like OziExplorer.
However, Navman do not want you to do that, and have locked the OS from public view. There are some ways around that, but those are probably illegal. _________________ Lutz

Fine, but I would expect the unit to fall back into a basic GPS mode when it senses that it is outside an area not covered but loaded Navman maps.
Does the Navman iCN650 unit not have a 'fallback mode' to navigate towards an intended target from a present position without having a map loaded for both places?
(If there is, I have not yet found it).
Cheers,
