To save Tim from saying it again.....you open it up in NOTEPAD, delete the first line which refers to longitude, latitude, etc, and save it again in WORDPAD. NOT excel --- WORDPAD. |

Just to confuse matters, I've now stopped deleting the first line and now merely add a semicolon to the front of it. This has the same effect of allowing the Navman POIEditor to read the file , but the use of the semicolon will still allow the data to be read into Autoroute without having to reenter the header info.
And yes, Notepad is good. _________________ Tim |

ok as per instructions
1.1. Download from Pocket GPS Safety Camera Database page1. [/
result ok savd file, save in temp folder apperars and i save, the file name says pocketgps_uk_sc and it downloads to zip file
Preparing the database to work with Navman's software
2. Open the relevant CSV file you want to transfer, e.g. C:\temp\POCKETGPS_UK_GATSO.CSV in NOTEPAD or any text editor.
result unzipped csv files and extraction wizard put it in c:\temp\pocketgps_uk_sc
double clicked csv file and all the camera files are then shown in excel format. double clicked gatso folder
2. Delete the first line to remove the Latitude and Longitude information, so the first line reads the data (no space)
3. Save the file (FILE | SAVE)
result did 2 and 3 but as the instructions show it in note pad mine says
microsoft excel pocketgps_uk_gatso
2. Delete the first line to remove the Latitude and Longitude information, so the first line reads the data (no space)
result when i save i get a message box saying it may contain fetures that are not compatible with csv(comma delimted) do you want to keep the workbook in this format i clicked yes. nothing seems to happen
Installing Pocket GPS Safety Camera Database
1. Run Navman SmartST Desktop on your PC.
that part goes ok
2. Click MAP | POI's to open the POI Editor.
ok
3. Click FILE | OPEN and point to your edited CSV file, e.g. C:\Temp\POCKETGPS_UK_GATSO.CSV
every thing looks the same as the instruction picture apart from in open my file name says
pocketgps_uk_gatso
not
pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv
then i get a error message saying cannot open c:\temp\pocketgps_uk_sc\csvfiles\pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv.
and thats as far as i get .
So i am following instructions but getting nowhere
any help please |

Jabber.
It sounds like you are double clicking the .csv file. This will open it in Excel. This will save it as a .xls file and Navman won't like it. If you then load the .csv file it will be the unedited one and it won't like that either.
If you right click the .csv file and choose Open With ... you can open it with Notepad, or any text editor of your choice.
You should end up with a csv file _________________ Richard

Twell thought i had it opened in note pad and gone to save to device and got invalid bitmap file click ok to select a bitmap that must be bigger than 6x6 and smaller than 42x42 pixels or click cancel to let the application use the default.
Tried both and get the following NO POI FOUND IN INPUT FILE
THE ICON FILE SAYS pocketgps_uk_gatso 1.cvs
going nuts with this

From Notepad you will have to Save to PC and then use Smart Desktop to import it into the 510. It looks like you're trying to load the csv file as a bmp! The bmp is loaded later under visuals - perhaps you're pointing at the wrong file.
How far down the instructions on this page do you get? _________________ Richard

thanks for all your help oldboy
I get to 5. Click FILE | SAVE TO DEVICE
6. Now tick ACTIVE, VISUAL ALERT, IMPERIAL, 150, Increase the POI Visibility and also point to the BMP file you extracted earlier from the ZIP file, e.g. C:\Temp\pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp
I opened in note pad and gone to save to device and got invalid bitmap file click ok to select a bitmap that must be bigger than 6x6 and smaller than 42x42 pixels or click cancel to let the application use the default.
Tried both and get the following NO POI FOUND IN INPUT FILE

I really need help so if you could give me step by step (idiot way) from after i save to note pad i would be grateful |

Hi
New to thuis forum and have just found this string after 3 hours trying-succesfully- to load the safety camera data base. I have only loaded the single all cameras file so does this give me all the camera info available?

Yes it does - all the (reported) GATSO cameras in the UK.
The speed related files are all the cameras broken down into their respective speed limits. _________________ Ian.
