This won't be much of an interesting post, so i'll make it short and sweet, I've had my 510 now for 5 months and its PERFECT.
I've said in a few other posts that there was teething problems which i sorted, thanks due to the help in this forum.
I seem to have all my settings the way i want them to suit my driving.
Gatso's, or Safety Camera's all sorted with the correct warning distances all ok.
The only one thing i have to do is adjust the brightness for night driving. (can that be done by remote control?)
other than that small adjustment, I'm VERY Pleased with the Navman iCN 510.

Anyone else Happy? maybe a good idea if i was to show all my settings one day to let anyone still struggling a bit to see if there good for them.
Or for anyone else to show there settings also.
Godd Idea?

See my other new post about usa map installation questions.

I'd be interested to see what the settings are and if you could also give an idea as to what sort of roads you tend to drive on.

Anyone who is having problems with the Gps Lock on etc
should put their navman onto the Gps Status option
then press next page
The screen will show Green and yellow vertical bars

If the unit shows 2 green bars
then the Aerial and unit is ok
as it is receiving gps signal
The Problem is that the gps signal is being hidden from view

Try Turning slowly in a 360o circle
or move to a different position
If no yellow or green bars light up then the unit may have a fault
REmember 4 sat locks are required for a 3d fix
3 sat locks will only give a 2d fix
in most cases

I forgot to mention the type of roads I use ....
Main roads mostly about my town, but sometimes the occasional back road is used and these settings find them no problem.
Motorways are used a lot. I don't use ferries.

Hmmm.. interesting. Do you not find that when there are 'shorter' routes which may be as quick, the Navman tries to route you on the motorway. For example, going around the m25 to get to a motorway instead of going via a few main A roads? I tend to get it not to favour motorways for this reason.

Djmek, have just read your last post and I notice you are referring to Motorways as Freeways, did you know that the latest Service Pack when downloaded and entered onto your unit will change settings and add more up-to-date info and will change Freeways to Motorways.
Just thought you might like to know in case you were unaware of the Service Pack update.

Regards

Rich

Thats interesting, I remember a few weeks ago trying to update. and falling asleep just about, as i'm always working til about 3am (like now) I must update soon.

As for the preference to maximum on freways, yes i did have it a notch down, an found in edinburgh it was taking me through roads i never knew of before to make a saving of a mile of motorway, But I can understand the M25 cos its a ring road.

Definetly happy with my settings though, best they've ever been.

Thanks I did the SP1 upload just there, there is as you say some useful settings in there too. One especially when you go under a bridge at speed and you get the loss of signal sound, it waits 5 seconds now, nice one.
