Indeed it is part of the new Version 5 rollout. If you purchase a TomTom product with version 5 software then you will get these maps. _________________ Mike Barrett |

From TT
Response 25/04/2005 05.06 PM
Dear Mr xxxxx,
Thank you for your e-mail.
The TT GO version 5.0 update is a preparation for the new map. The Postcode function does not work yet only when the new maps are installed. The map upgrade will be available in May.
The release date for the new upgrades and price is not set yet. Pleas keep an eye on the website for the coming weeks.
TomTom will not give out any free upgrades.
We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team |

When ordering the map upgrade one is required to use the product code. Ive tried entering this several times, each time correctly, but each time I get a message back saying the product code is not valid.

Are you sure that you are entering the product code and not the device code or the activation code? Neither of these will work. _________________ Mike Barrett |

I've received confirmation emails from orders@tomtom.com in the past, not sure if its a "read at the other end" account though. _________________ --

heh, just read .....
If you want to check the status of your order please do not reply to this e-mail.
Instead visit http://support.tomtom.com/uk Go to My TomTom in the column on the left hand side.
Insert your e-mail address and password.
Choose Orders and you will find a list of the orders you placed in the TomTom mail-order store.
When you double click the order number you can view all details of that order. _________________ --

Hello Mike
Yes, Ive been using the correct product code (3 groups of 5 alpha numeric characters) as recorded on the back of the CD sleeve. Well, it says there that the number Ive been using is the product code.
I just cannot understand how they can say it is invalid as twice during the last few months I have had to use this in conjuction with the Device code (2 groups of 5 alpha numeric characters) in order to get the activation code. That clearly proves they have a record of it.
Not only that its only 4 or 5 weeks ago since I sent them 'proof of purchase' when the SD memory card failed and had to be returned to them for replacement.
I have sent them an email enquiry tonight but that only promises a reply within 2 working days. I reckon I will just have to be patient.

Cheers for that. I have contacted Tomtom and asked them to cancel the UK update. |

Hello again Mike
Problem solved and the maps have now been ordered.
I dont know what the cause of my difficulty was but I persistently kept trying the Product Code (by pasting it in every time) and eventually it was accepted.
Probably a gremlin loose somewhere.

Mitch,
Then, the following sentence I found on the TTG web site is VERY confusing :
"You have the option to upgrade your region to a new version of your region on SD card or the Maps of Western Europe to upgrade to a new CD-ROM set with Maps of Western Europe. "
If the option of upgrading the Western Maps of Europe, for 59 euros, is less expensive than the upgrade of your regional map (79 euros), then why should we take the upgrade of regional map ??? since it is anyway included in the Maps of Western Europe for 59 euros ???
Thanks. |

Why has the upgrade got to be on a card or CD ?
Why don't they offer it as a download and save themselves money ?

If I buy the new map on the 256Mb card I will have a spare 128Mb card. Does the old card fit any particular make of camera or something else of use? |
