Hi Mike, I saw you're comprehensive answer on the TT forum just after I posted here - I've now had to order a SDHC card reader so I can transfer my files! Getting there slowly. Thanks again. |

Thanks Mike - does the TT just recognise the card as "extra" memory for the purpose of download? Or do I have to copy the map to the card before installing the card in the device? |

Well (perhaps foolishly) I did purchase a map update subscrition - only to find after waiting some 6hrs for it to downlload I got "insufficient space on your device to install update". New map some 8 ... |

You can put the app and maps onto an SD card and the device will then boot from the card, you need all the files from the internal flash memory on to the SD card for this to work.

Leaving aside the issue of which Device you have, if you load an SD Card with the application and Maps it should boot from that when it is inserted.
IIRC it is either one or the other, not both.

It's a TomTom ONE New Edition Western Europe
958Mb according to Explorer (1,004,650,496 bytes) plus it has an SD card slot (as per the pics in the link posted)

It has an SD card slot.
I downloaded the TT "recommended" update.
The original map was Western Europe at 907.8Mb

I use a biro - standard office issue with the cap on, and use the pointed end of the cap Or an old PDA stylus. Too clumsy to use fingernails for delicate work. |
