Hi,

My iPAQ 2210 will not resore a backup if TTN3 was installed on it, it just locks up on the resest, when the status bar reaches the furthest right.

I have been led to believe this is on ALL 2210's with TTN3.

Does anyone know any more on this ?

Thanks

Tony.

A general thing I've found with restoring backups is that it can help to hard reset and not correct the clock until the backup is restored.

If you find this doesn't work, it's probably because iPAQ Backup is quite an old version of Sprite Backup. It's well worth the few pounds to upgrade to the latest version of Sprite Backup via the special offer for iPAQ owners. I have had no problem restoring my Pocket PC 3970 (upgraded to Pocket PC 2003) with TomTom Navigator 3 loaded using Sprite Backup 3.0.0.

Tony,

I had this very problem when trying to restore my recently purchased 2210 for the first time. Done it dozens of times with my old 3850 and TT3, hence the need for a replacement.
This worried me so I have purchased said Sprite software - you get it cheaper for upgrading an Ipaq ($10) I have tried restoring after saving with the new software and it worked Thumbs Up

I've got exactly the same problem on my 2210 and I've had a support case open with TomTom about it for some time, but they don't seem to be able to find a solution.

I've narrowed down the problem to the TTBTDEV.DLL file which is in the Windows folder. If you don't restore this file then it will restore with no problems... I don't know exactly what this file does (although an educated guess is that it's to do with TomTom and Bluetooth), but TomTom does seems to work afterwards - at least through a serial connection.

:D :D :D :D

Thanks, this has helped alot leaving out the TTBTDEV.dll lets me restore the rest.

I have not tried TomTom yet but hopefully it is for Bluetooth only as I dont use a bluetooth connection.

I will mail TomTom and ask them what it is for.

Nej,

Nice one, that must have taken some finding, I got fed up after a couple of shots trying to narrow it down. I got onto HP ipaq support and that is what they suggested I should do, narrow down the file restore to find the culprit file....

Looks like I wasted $10 a couple of days ago, although it is a good back-up programme and the Premium version of Sprite has one or two other uses.

I have now also done a standard back up and unchecked this file in the "files to Back-up"

Just shows the benefit of a forum such as this!!

Thumbs Up

Last night I downloaded & installed Sprite Backup on my IPAQ2210 and backed up to both a SD Card & my PC. That's good Thumbs Up

However, this morning TomTom hangs up on loading. It dosn't lock up completely but seems to be running very slowly i.e. it can take several minutes to respond to a screen tap!

I have uninstalled Sprite Backup but TomTom is still affected.

Any one else had this problem & can suggest a solution?

Thanks

Have you tried doing a soft reset? That'll often fix a slow-running PDA.

Oh, and harking back to the TTBTDEV.DLL thing - I still haven't received a reply from TomTom on exactly what that file does... if anybody else does then please post it so I know.

Many, many times 8O . In fact I can say that I had to resort to a soft reset more times in the first day I had my 2210 than I did in the four years I had my Psion Rolling Eyes

Something definately not right there... I'd suggest doing a full hard-reset and re-loading everything from scratch. If it's still dodgy then I'd get onto HP.

I had the same problem with it being really really slow after I reloaded TomTom, it was cured by wiping out (not overwriting, which I tried first) all maps and reloading them.

Hope this helps.

Tony.

Just had a reply from TomTom regarding the TTBTDEV.DLL file .....

Dear XXX,

This issue is under investigation and for some reason some HP 2210s seem to backup and restore with TT3 and TT2 and others do not.

We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team

.......very helpful, I must say!! Confused
