I created a route using Tyre a few days ago, as I wanted to try to make sure I avoided any single track country roads. Well, it did that OK, but the Garmin didn't stick to my pre-planned route and instead, sent me several miles out of my way up the M5 and along the M50. To make matters worse, one of the roads it tried to send me along after coming off the M50 was blocked (and has been for several months apparently). I had a feeling this wasn't going to work too well because as soon as I selected the route on my Garmin, a message popped up telling me that route preferences had changed and asking me if I wanted to accept them. I didn't know whether it meant that I had changed the sat nav preferences since creating the route or whether the sat nav was trying to change the route I had created, so I answered "no" just in case (I think I may have changed the sat nav preferences to avoid motorways before setting off for this destination as last time I travelled to this general location, the sat nav sent me the long way round via the motorway network, whereas there is a much shorter route via normal roads, albeit usually longer time-wise, especially at peak times). So I'm puzzled - is there a way to ensure that any pre-planned route does not get changed after being sent to the sat nav? |

Key things here are to first use the same map you have in your device. Does tyre do that?
BaseCamp does which is why I use it for trip planning.
Also ensure routing and avoidance settings match, again this is something you can do in BaseCamp, not sure about tyre?
Having said that I occasionally get a slight mismatch between the two. However I check whenever I can by ensuring the trips have been imported in the Trip Planner app on my Garmin, then reconnect it to BaseCamp and correct any discrepancies. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Tyre doesn't use Garmin maps but Google maps, so as you have indicated, that's probably the reason. I tried using Tyre because the routing more closely matches the routes I would choose if I were manually planning routes. I'll have to contact the developers of Tyre to see if there is a way to prevent a route being changed by the sat nav (otherwise, there's not much point in using their route planner). |

Tyre also have myrouteapp. A web based system if you have gold membership you can use the Garmin maps or the tomtom ones in addition to the Googlemaps version.
I hardly ever use Tyre now myroute also exports to the latest tomtom devices |

I was going to try this in Tyre, but for some reason it won't plan a route this evening (it was working fine earlier today). |
