|
|
I started a map update on my Nuvi 2595 yesterday afternoon but after about two hours the update stalled at 37.1%. I left it for the rest of the day and late evening it was still stalled so i left it on all night hoping that it would be complete by morning but it was still stopped at 37%. I have UK & Europe maps installed.
This morning it gave me the option to quit or continue so I thought it best to quit and start again but it won't let me nor will it allow a restore back to 19/2/16. I now see that there is only 464mb free of 7.20Gb. Has it stopped because there is insufficient hard disk capacity and if so do I need an SD card? |

Difficult to know. Normally Express would warn you at the start if there was lack of room, what you describe is more like your USB port or PC going to sleep.
When you say it now won't let you what exactly is happening? If you connect your nuvi can you see it in Windows Explorer? Does it boot correctly and if so what is displayed in Settings, Map & Vehicles, myMaps? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Yes, it is showing in This Computer as a drive and I can open it and read the files. It does boot and the map shown in myMaps is CN Europe NTU 2016.30 ALL. I thought the Europe and UK maps were usually shown separately.
Garmin Express keeps telling me an update is due but still when I try to update I get a red warning at the top of the screen 'There was an error installing this update' |

No, the CN EU map should show as one map, so the problem is that it's not updating as the latest is 2017.10
Often this error can be cured by setting your nuvi to mass storage mode (by default it's MTP mode). To try mass storage:
1. Start NUVI by itself and go to Volume Screen.
2. Press the upper right hand corner of screen for 10 seconds.
3. The Developers Screen will pop up
(may see Configuration and Settings, if so select it)
4. Scroll down to MTP SETTINGS
5. Change from AUTO DETECT to MASS STORAGE
6. Shut down NUVI and connect to PC
7. It should now connect in mass storage mode.
As an alternative to step 1 and 2 above, you can bring up the Nuvi's "trip information" screen by tapping the speed icon, then press and hold the speedometer for about 10 seconds to access the developer screen. Now go from step 3.
Once in mass storage try Express again. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks for that. I did exactly as you suggested but still the Express page goes immediately to the 'did not install message.' |

I seem to remember having that issue once but using the 'reinstall map' option allowed it to start from square one again. _________________ Satnav:

Would you believe it! I switched on the Garmin this morning, connected to Garmin Express and the update went in without any problem. So a total mystery what was wrong yesterday - we'll probably never know.
Thanks to the two of you who replied to my original query. |
