I have a Go 520 that is completely unresponsive. Touch screen won't register anything & the device seems to have no GPS fix when connected to Home & using Operate My Device or whatever it's called. Position remains locked several miles away.
I've tried a long press of the reset button & deleted & re-installed the app but to no avail. I've also tried the clear flash tool. Anyone have any ideas before it heads towards the bin?
If it's relevant, it did suffer from the misalignment of the touch screen issue around a year ago which was fixed with the text file, whose name escapes me for the minute. |

I think Operate my GO is mostly Virtual, not 100% actually operating the 520.
Anyway, could you try running it using an SDHC card? Copy everything to PC, then to a blank SDHC and try then.
Otherwise it sounds like terminal. _________________ Dennis

There used to be a solution posted here quite often to a non-responsive screen issue.
Get a piece of thin card/thick paper and run it around the gap between the screen and the frame.
It is possible for some dust to get into the gap and confuse the touch screen. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Thanks guys.
Pretty sure Operate My Go uses the GPS receiver. I'll try & SD card & report back.
Don't think it's a problem with dirt in the digitizer as I've had the unit stripped apart & cleaned all around the screen bezel. |

Installed to SD & no difference. Device is still issuing instructions so seems to be functioning on some level. Maybe the digitizer has had it?
Can't see it being economical to repair. |

Does economy come into it? The more recent TomTom devices don't hold a candle to it. _________________ Dennis
