Perhaps the feedback from the admin of a gps forum in North America puts the article in perspective:
Quote: | Maybe I'm missing the obvious, but this just has fake written all over it. Citing "told a Belgian news website".... so where is the original? And would someone pose for a photo for such a news article? The woman's name matches that of a Mission Impossible character. None of the police officers were named, nor even saying which agency they were from? A "full manhunt" was almost activated after she was only gone for two days?
Call me a skeptic, but I'd need much more proof to believe this one. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and so far I see nothing but non-attributed anecdotes. |

Quite, and I can't see many people driving for 900 miles over 2 days whilst only stopping for fuel? _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

Bogus!!!
Having said that, some drivers do switch their brains off when they turn their satnav on.
I spend a lot of time in Washington state. I'm always amazed how many people confuse Vancouver, BC and Vancouver, WA and end up in the wrong place. If you are heading south to Canada, how can you not realize something is wrong.
Vancouver, BC - In Canada - just north of WA state
Vancouver, WA - In WA state - just north of Oregon |

True
Plus this can happen without satnav.
I have a niece who lives in Barnsley Yorkshire, and in the days before satnav she was going to Hull on the M62.
She got to the M62 and took the west ramp, she ended up in Liverpool before she know something was wrong |

Back in the olden days, I had a secretary who was going from Cambridge to Reading once - she forgot to get off the M25 and ended up in Dover before she realised.
So, it doesn't need a sat-nav to be a "switched off" driver. |

She must have been really confused if she didn't get off the M25 and thought she was in Dover. _________________ Drivelux |

Easy to do if going anti clockwise at Junction 5 where you have to take the left off slip road to continue on the M25. "Straight on" puts you on the M26, which in turn merges with the M20 a few miles later, which then takes you all the way to the harbour at Dover.
But if she was going from Cambridge to Reading why was she going anti-clockwise on that stretch. Of course if she had been reading the signs ....... _________________ Peter
