|
|
Hi,
I've just purchased a 3760 nav for BMW (so it can be intergrated into the car) but there is no maps?
All I have is lines of the main roads (no detailed maps).
I managed to get hold of the UK maps & placed it in the Garmin folder... this is when I noticed there were no other files, only folders, this what it has:
autorun.inf
nuvi_drive.ico
gmapprom.img (which I placed here - uk maps)
Then it has the following folders:
Garmin
GPX
Help
Keyboard
Pictures
POI
TExt
Themes
Vehicle
Voice.
Does anyone know what I need to get the maps on? Or is it a dodgy nav & send it back? I would have thought there'll be some maps on it at least?
Cheers |

I once bought a faulty "BMW" Garmin Nüvi 715 from eBay. Once I'd repaired it, I was surprised to find there were no detailed maps. On registering it (at my.garmin.com), I found that it had never had any integral maps; presumably they were originally supplied on an SD card....(for some reason known only to BMW and Garmin).
It sounds like the 3590 might use a similar set up.

It seems strange for BMW to do this as I can find any info on how to get the maps, even the dealer didn't have a clue?
Does anyone know what files I need? |

Your problem is that the maps, if there, are in the hidden .system folder. To view them you need to select to show hidden and system files:
Once you can look at the .system folder what files do you see? |

Woohoo... many thanks I've got the maps to work /show!
Now I've got this file:
.volumeIcon.icns
and the following folder:
.system
I pasted the gmapprom.img into the system folder & I have streets!
One last question, what do I need to get the lane assistance.... I'm guessing another file but which?
Thanks for your help! |

Glad to help. LA is part of the map data, if the map is now working you should get lane assist. However did you mean junction view?
The differences are here:
