|
|
I've had 540 for couple of years, been fed up of waiting the 3-5 minutes for traffic to start but have lived with it, but recently the signal has been dropping off more often and having to restart 540 t get itback and then wait etc.
Thinking of buying a second hand 550, how long does it take for traffic to start, does signal drop out much? |

Starts connection at about 30 seconds. Depending upon the amount of data takes 20 seconds to 60 seconds to complete connection ie at 8.30 am takes 60 seconds, at 11.30 pm takes 20 sconds. In my experience Live connection has only been lost because of poor network coverage, not a device glitch. Now and again drops gps fix, but infrequent. Still reboots, but rarely. Generally I trust it to work. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Take a look at another thread near this one about Live Services on a 540 working again Go540 Works
I am trying to go down this route as well on my 940 and it looks like TomTom may resolve this for me, they have been asking for my personal details and receipt etc in relation to changing the SIM. If it happens and works I will post the details in the other thread. _________________ Drivelux |

I must say that with the latest firmware, the traffic on my "old model" 740 has been quite quick to appear recently. Certainly worth a try if you haven't updated in a while (take a full Windows copy of the device content before updating so you can restore if you have problems). |
