You might find this post helps.
If the file on your SD card is a .poi file, try renaming the extension to .gpi

elia2002 can you let us know if this is the cause and if it resolves your issue.
We're in contact with Garmin regarding this, but the more evidence we can provide, the better. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thank you to all of you who have tried to help me with the loading problem.
I thought I had got it to load successfully but the road test was negative.
This was the 4th negative road test and I am getting pretty despondent now.
I have followed the advice to the best of my abililty.
Any more ideas please.

Can you tell us what you have tried so far? Have you checked for the .poi / .gpi file issue? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Would it be worth trying the previous version of POILoader, given all the issues with v2.7?
I've uploaded POILoader v2.6 here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

If you go to Where To / Extras / Custom POI do the cameras show up in the list there? This will check to see if the POIs have been transferred or not.
If so then have you gone into Setting (Tools?) Proximity Alerts and made sure the Custom POI box is ticked? I.e. without this then you wil not get any alerts even if the files are on the device.
And, finally, how are you doing your road test? Garmin devices don't show the icon / alert if you are going 'too slow' you need to be close to the set speed of the POI/camera location.

Hello again
Thanks to all of you who have helped with this issue.
I think I have followed the advice so far and will keep trying and will attempt to describe what I have done in more detail if the next attempt fails.
I have tried a road test today after attempting to adopt the earlier advice with no success.
However I have loaded the earlier version of PIOLoader as suggested. Will road test tomorrow. It is showing as having loaded.
I will report what happens ASAP after that.
I shall continue with trying to get this to work and I am really grateful for all the helpers and their patience and advice.
Thanks again for your help so far and so patiently bearing with my difficulties.

Thanks to all.
Reverting to v2.6 download and replacing the latest version has worked.
That was all that was needed. v2.6 and CamerAlert is a much happier combination.
Sorry if I caused some frustration to some of you who were trying to help but whatever I did with v2.7 things were just not working.
Thanks again, I would not have succeeded without your advice.

It's all sorted which is the main thing. You'll appreciate that, for us, it's frustrating that the issue is caused by buggy Garmin software which is outside of our control but that's our issue not yours.
I'm delighted that you persevered as our data is much better than the service offered by Garmin as many here will attest, and that is after all the most important bit! _________________ Darren Griffin |
