I have a TT520 which I cannot back up with Home. It falls over when it gets to this particular file in the United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland' folder. It calls itself 'USBS`ò .', when I try to delete it, it says it is too long or has another problem. When I try to rename it, it refuses. What is the file, what should it be and how can I sort it out, please?

First of all, you really shouldn't be backing up using 'Home'...
We always advise you make your backups with Windows Explorer or the Mac's Finder, and this is one of the reasons why.
Other reasons are that Home often creates backups which it then cannot restore properly, and it can only make ONE backup, subsequent ones overwrite the previous one!
So, normally we would say to make a new folder on your PC, call it "TomTom Go520 Backup 29Aug2011" or whatever you prefer, then copy the entire TomTom storage memory (all files and folders) into that backup folder. Simple isn't it!
However, it looks like you have a corrupted file on the unit, and luckily it looks like it isn't interfering with normal functioning.
So, assuming you can't do a full copy and paste as above, but you can SEE the dodgy file in Windows Explorer, back your backup in two chunks.
Make the backup folder as above, then copy all the folders and files UPTO that file first and then copy and paste everything AFTER that file. That will now be your backup.
Next, try to erase everything on the Go, but it might well fail to delete the dodgy file, in which case you'll need to do a full format of the memory, by right clicking on it and selecting "Format".
Choose FAT32 as the format style and do not use "quick format".
Once the formatting is complete, you should be able to copy your entire backup back from the folder you made, and be up and running again. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

Sir, you have the genesis of a genius. Followed your instructions and all is well. Would not have been so brave as to do all that off my own bat. Thank you very much.
