|
|
Hi
What am I doing wrong?
I have recently subscribed to the camera database.
I own a NUVI 1395 which came with its own database (out of date).
I ran POI Loader and used the option to remove all custom POI's and I think the old data has gone. How can I tell though?
I then downloaded PGPSW data selecting UK -speed zoned complete and also the voice - female with chime prefix
I then downloaded the icons 24x24 speed zoned (mph)
I extracted all above to one folder (UK Cams) and pointed POI loader to it
I now have UK Cams gpi file on my Garmin. so far so good.
When I pass a camera however I just get a chime and no voice. I thought I was suppose to get e.g. " Gatso 40" in dulcet tones of a female!!
What have I done wrong? I am also not sure if the icons are the additional or the original.
Can anyone help please?
Second question is for Euro cams.
I have done exactly same as above except using Euro speed zoned, added voices and icon.
How can I test this works before I go on my long trip to Sth France? |

Have a look at the files/ folders on the device using Windows Explorer, open the POI file and you might find the following:
BeluxCyclopsSample.gpi
FranceCyclopsSample.gpi
ItalySloviniaCyclopsSample.gpi
NetherlandsCyclopsSample.gpi
NordicsCyclopsSample.gpi
SpainPortugalCyclopsSample.gpi
UKIrelandCyclopsSample.gpi
These are the Garmin Speed Camera files covering Europe, simply remove them - Mike |

Also, to get the voices working, you have to follow the PGPSW instructions carefully. For some devices you need to download the mp3 voice files. For other devices (without an mp3 player) you need the wav voice files and sox.exe.
If your device has a Demo mode, you can use this to check if things are working OK.

Thanks Mike and Dales.
1. I have checked POI folder in explorer and I don't have any Garmin files.
I do have UK Cams.gpi and Euro cams.gpi so POI loader has done its job but no voices.
I am pretty sure .mp3 is correct for my pnd and btw its a 3790T not a 1695.
If I try and load the .wav voices then POI Loader reports an error and says it cannot process some files whcih happen to be the .wav
Has anyone successfully installed working voices to a Garmin?
I really want to get this working! |

Update....
Just downloaded latest database with voices and installed.
I did a simulation on a route that includes several camers but all I get is short double chime and NO voice.

That smacks of no SOX.exe in the Garmin POI Loader folder. _________________ DashCam:

Thanks Kremmen
Can you point me to what I should be doing differently please?
I have looked for specific instructions but cant find any.
If I try to use POI Loader with .wav files voices then I get message that the .wav files have not been transferred because they could not be converted into correct format.
I thought SOX.exe was for .wav files or am I wrong? |

Well done.... sorry no-one could help before you worked it out for yourself.
Any chance you could say what the problem was? It might help someone else in the same situation. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I'll bet he used the wav files, put sox.exe in the exact folder where PoiLoader resides, and followed the PGPSW instructions carefully.
