Hi - does anyone know the link to a good PDA forum - I have a question relating to my PDA - nothing to do with TomTom or GPS, hence the reason I am not posting it here.
Thanks

There's lots of experienced PocketPC users here, what's the problem? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I've noticed the rubber side grips on my H2210 are starting to come away and was wondzering if this was a common problem with 2210's and whether other users on this forum were/had experienced same problem and what can be done about it - posting the PDA back to the retailer is something I want to avoid as too much hassle.
Thanks

Further to the above - the TomTom car kit I have - namely the actual PDA holder is a tight fit for the 2210 and I guess that constantly fitting it in and taking it out is putting a lot of pressure on the rubber grips.

Ah, that's an easy one The 2210/2215 side grips are a common problem, Hewlett Packard have designed modified replacements that don't suffer from this failing. If you're in the UK give HP a call on 0870 842 2339 (call your local HP Service Centre in other regions) and explain the problem, they'll need your unit's serial number (under the battery so whip it out write it down and re-insert the battery, you have a few minutes to do this before the unit hard resets!) and they'll send you a replacement set that also comes with a new battery door and CF Slot Blank and the best bit is it won't cost you a penny
Alternatively, PPC Techs have designed anodised aluminum replacements that come in a range of colours, see Expansys although these will cost you and are not cheap at £25.45 a pair _________________ Darren Griffin |

HP in the UK do not send a CF slot blank.
You will only get the side grips and the battery door as part of a kit P/N 349036-001 |

I beg to differ, I received a pair of side grips, a battery door and a CF Slot blank. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It seems to be different to which tech support people you talk to.
When I requested a free set because one of my grips fell off and I lost it, HP only sent me the battery door and two grips. That was in December. In March I tried to get a replacement set for my second 2210 and all I kept getting back from each tech support person at HP was. "Yeah, you lost it. That's not covered under warranty!". Even though it was lost due to a bad design.
In the end I paid the dough and got some PPC Tech side grips, very nice, one pair of red and one pair of silver. Doesn't have the nice rubbery feel, just a metal feel, but those grips won't ever fall off again because they have a screw in each grip! |

Darren,
Just to let you know that I called that number on Monday and UPS have just delivered kit no 349036-001, the box contains side grips, battery door and CF slot blank. I notice that the side grips are different from the originals - they seem much less flexible. I guess if these ones drop off I can ring up and request another set! Have to admit that I am pretty impressed by HP's service.
I notice the package came from the Netherlands - though for a moment it was TomTom sending me another copy of TTN3 by mistake 8O !!
Anyway thanks for the tip - much appreciated.

Ditto also.
When the package arrived from the Netherlands I too thought TomTom were doing the good PR job and sending me an upgrade that works with my 2210..... Ha!
It was the full set of bits from HP ... well done the HP iPAQ team....
Thanks Darren for the tip.
