|
|
Hi Guys,
I am off to Waltham Abbey this weekend (family Wedding) But I can not for the life of me work out how to put a "negative" Latitude, Longitude into my GPS TomTom.
Here is the exact spot on Google Maps 51.687533, -0.004063 that I would like to route too.
As far as I can see, my TomTom doe's not allow me to put in a "negative" symbol so for example if I type this on Google Maps 51.687533, 0.004063 (omitting the - negative sign) it routes me about several miles down the road? Can anyone explain this or know how I can rectify it?
Thanks for your help in advance! _________________ TT Go 720 v8.204

Use 'W' for negative Longitude, and E for positive.
Don't forget to leave the '-' out.
Edit to add: In your example N51.687533, E0.004063 _________________ Richard

Don't forget to leave the '-' out.
In your example N51.687533, E0.004063 |
I am Slightly confused now Oldboy the negative is -0.004063 shouldn't this now read W0.004063 as opposed to E0.004063 as you suggested? and as the first part is positive shouldn't this now read E51.687533 as opposed to N51.687533
W=Negative
E=Positive
Or have I missed something? _________________ TT Go 720 v8.204

Batties, you're right that Oldboy should have said W0.004063. I think he was confused by your mention of "51.687533, 0.004063" towards the end of your post. But, as he said, the first part should be N51.687533
For the latitude (1st) component of the coordinates you use N for North and S for South, and for the longitude (2nd) component you use E for East and W for West.
The coordinates you require should read N51.687533, W0.004063. _________________ Anita

Can't wait!
I should have added that a negative value indicates South or West, while a positive value is North or East. _________________ Anita

And a very health looking cake it is too. It appears to contain at least four portions of fruit & vegetables:
Strawberries, Kiwi fruit, Flour (made of wheat which is a vegetable) and cream (made from the juice of a cow which only eats grass and is therefore composed entirely of vegetable). _________________ Paul |

I have absolutely no idea what's in it - I just do the eating part and I'm as fat as a butcher's dog.
PS - I thought cows ate cows, or has that changed now? _________________ Dennis

@DennisN: If a cow eats a cow which is made of grass then the second cow is still made of grass so it is still a vegetable and so is its juice which is made into cream.
@JimmyTheHand: If cows eat plastic bags they are not going to work properly and won’t make juice. So there is no need to worry that cream might be made of plastic, it's definitely a vegetable and counts towards your five a day. _________________ Paul |

But didn't Sarah Palin say "If God didn't mean us to eat animals, why are they made of meat?". Maybe she was just talking of wild meat animals.
Anyway, thanks for the great scientific and logical busting of the anti-cake brigade. _________________ Dennis
