In line with our partner community web-sites we are looking to gauge opinion to the new GO 1000 / VIA range and the omitted features. _________________ Darren Griffin

How about a sixth option:
I have already purchased an alternate unit from another manufacturer?

Or, I will wait until the missing features are added and then consider whether I want one. |

Can't add an option now it's started. I'm sure there are a myriad of other possibilities but wanted to capture the major ones.
Alan, the "I will wait for the features to be re-added before ordering" is close but I take your point. _________________ Darren Griffin |

My reason for abandoning Navman in favour of Tomtom was the inability to handle more than 12000 POIs - not to mention one map upgrade in 3 years which cost me £100
Unless and until Tomtom reinstate POI I will not buy the product.
I have also found Tyre invaluable in saving precisely located POIs - I assume that this functionality will be lost with the web based Home 3
The new models are one step forward and two back - incidentally, with memory relatively cheap, why does Tomtom persist in fitting the absolute minimum - even recent models cannot fit the latest complete updated maps without a memory card _________________ GO 750 Live HD Traffic, Map Europe 930, Navcore 9.510 |

Or maybe somebody who can't vote (being on the wrong side of the pond ) is still curious about the results........... _________________ David |

If I chose to buy something other than a Tomtom PND in the future it would be because of the woeful service and support we've encountered this year (eg v9 "upgrade", broken LIVE services etc). The POI issue for me is neither here nor there. I don't use third party POIs, nor do I see any circumstances in which I would. |

But even so, that is over five visits out of curiosity per person who voted. Voting is free and is non-binding. If people have come this far, just how much extra effort is required to "highlight" a radio button before leaving?
DennisN. My prediction is 03, 23, 27, 39, 40, 42, and _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Wow! Do you mean you are actually happy with the POIs you get on the unit from new, or just that you don't use POIs at all?
The quality of the built-in POIs has always been lamentable.
User POIs can be used for anything from saving your Favourites (safer than using the normal favourites system), to your lists of work contacts, lists of places you might need to pick your kids up from etc. etc. |

If there is a sudden switch to option 1, it probably means TT CS have discovered the poll. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Darren (and others)....
For any poll worth its salt to mean anything, the numbers for each choice must be valid.
My vote (I wouldn't be caught dead buying any TomTom without 3rd party poi support) would, in a small way, skew results because none of the choices fit my specific circumstances here in Canada.
I mean, let's be clear, the underlying motivation behind the poll is to measure potential loss of revenue to TT because of perceived shortcomings (to some) and real shortcomings (to many).
I do not plan to ever spend another penny buying any TomTom model but my circumstances are different from the 'average' user as Darren & Mikealder are aware.
In my mind, even voting for that option (not planning to upgrade) isn't quite valid, considering the thrust of the survey.
I am surprised that there are any votes for the option 1 though. You Brits do know the expression "You'll be sorry", don't you! _________________ David |
