As someone who has thought of gps for a while now, am I correct in thinking that if I purchase a cf receiver, a memory card and an in car power cable (as well as software) I will have a working gps system?
I have a Toshiba 570 pda and although 18 months old works well and has both cf and sd slots.

Don't forget navigation software on top!

Seriously - a CompactFlash GPS, SD memory card (do avoid Sandisk and rebadges thereof - my current recommendations can be found here with more information here), a suitable in-car mount and power cable and navigation software will give you a working system.
