Anybody in the UK seeing the same thing? _________________ David |

Yes I got the download above to work though I had to force the update as the TomTom icon did not indicate items available for download.
Now have "add shared POI" under mytomtom menu.
Hopefully we can get the camera database from pocketgpsworld onto the 1000 soon and I'm happy. Over to the technical experts please as to whether this is possible now?
Bit more information; looks like there is now a battery status indicator on the main screen of the device when not connected to external power and the .bmp files have to be 16x16 pixels apparently.

The PGPSW files are in ov2 format so will be able to be added to the unit.
BUT....... and a BIG BUT............
You will not be able to extract multiple ov2 files in a batch to the unit. They have to be done one at a time. So, if your complement includes, say, eight safety camera ov2 files, you'll have to extract them to a location on your computer and then, one by one, select them in the new interface for installation on the unit. The same goes for the associated .bmp files.
At least, this is my understanding. _________________ David |

Yes you are right David and it's a pain compared to how it used to be on my my "One" but 10 minutes effort for an accurate database is a small price to pay for me.
Personally speaking my only concern now is what happens if the device crashes and a reset does not work but fair play to TomTom they have delivered 3rd party POI nearly on time (whether they should have been available at time of release is a separate argument and not one I'm going to get into!) |

And before anyone asks, No you cannot add the .ogg voice files.
(hopefully I can add "yet" ot that sentence, but no firm news so far on that)
So the only ways to get voice warnings is to either
1. type them in manually for the TTS voice to read out.
or 2. rename the speed camera files to something suitable and set the TTS voice to read out the filename. |

Andy, any indication whether the files are first transmitted to TT servers and then on to the device? Don't know if/how that could be determined but seems sensical, particularly with the time taken to load each file. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr. |

No, as far as I know, the files are sent straight to the device.
The new connection technique means the Go is treated as a "network device", and that means the MyTomTom software can communicate with parts of the internal directory structure as IP addresses.
Testers have been given a similar technique to access screen grabs on the machine. |

Yes, David, just installed. Yet to investigate what it involves. Will watch this thread with interest... _________________ Gee-Pee

Another small issue...
When you go to the new POI upload page in MyTomTom, the blurb says that POI icons can only be 16x16 pixels.
This is wrong, most if not all normal 22x22 icons from other TomTom models work fine.
(Although I've had a report on another forum that one icon didn't work, so there may be an as-yet unconfirmed issue with colour bit-depth or some other subtle difference with that one example).

How do you force the update. Just connected mine and was not offered any update. |

Sometimes what works for me is to change my location in the MyTomTom notification box from Canada_EN to some other and save changes, then back to original. _________________ David |

Andy. that would open the possibility of 3rd party remote access being granted then. I do that with a very select number of customers who have been given remote access to one of my large format printers via the web. HP has a similar function with some of their more recent office printers. Perhaps this offers a way for PGPS Camera app to interface with the new TomTom's directly if TT chose to do so. _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr.

So we should now be able to add 3rd party POIs - if rather slowly (I used the individual zoned files on my TT750 -which was something like 80 files!) but can we assign an audible warning to them as well? |
