Has anyone else had this problem with the zumo 660 running 3.90? Tried 3.50 and all was happy, but with 3.90 in, the 660 shut itself down about every hour Sad

Garmin Tech support suggested removing the pocketworld alerts and only using their alerts. And it seems to have cured the problem. Tried the 11th and 18th August downloads without an improvement Sad

i would complain to garmin that their device is not working as advertised (adding your own [PGPSW] POIs is not a 'hack' of any kind but using a feature they include in their software) - as such, if it doesn't work then they should fix it and not simply tell you to stop using that feature.

imagine buying a new car and the (factory fitted) aircon turns off after 10 minutes. if you phoned the dealer or manufacturer and they simply said "well don't use the aircon and you won't have the problem" - would you accept that as a valid resolution?!

that is essentially what garmin are telling you to do.

Aircon is fitted by the factory and so should be tested by them. I doubt Garmin will test POI's and how they interact with their soft / hardware as them don't seem to believe in beta testing Crying or Very sad

To clarify, Garmin provide the functionality in their devices and the software to upload the data to their unit in the form of POILoader. All PGPSW does is provide a list of locations in the exact format Garmin specify. Therefore Garmin should test how the POIs interact with their software and hardware as they provide the tools to do it. The fact the problem has arisen after a software update indicates it's something that Garmin has broken between software versions....

With 3.50 there was no problem, maybe 4.00 when it gets to us will stop all of the auto shutdowns that are caused by data on sd cards, file name lengths, POI's etc etc. Or maybe not.

Goint to try the 15th Sept version of your database to see if it (the 660)plays ball.
