I was on the beta and it was fairly dreadful. Not sure if it has changed, but it was very *very* simple as a SatNav, with voice traffic warnings. |

Heh, well its horses for courses. Perhaps it will suit some people? I thought it was fairly dreadful though, at least with the beta. |

And a 59p/min call if you want to ring the PA. It's a SatNav for dummies who need help setting their destination.
I'll see if we can get an eval code to trial it. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have been using this over the last couple of days. By far the best system out of TOMTOM, Copilot and Igo. The routes are logical and it does have a voice aleart for traffic and reruotes well.
Hopefully tomorrow I will try and write up a review. _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |

Seriously? I found the lack of map, and the voice rather than visual alerts to be really odd.
Although horses for courses, as mentioned earlier. |

I have been using it for the last couple of days, some random thoughts so far:
A little disconcerting at first not having a map to look at but I soon got used to it.
I like being able to read the text on screen as it is larger than Tomtom's, Navigon's etc. I wear reading glasses although I can't while driving.
The voice is reassuringly verbose (including lane guidance), I suppose because of the lack of maps.
When I deliberately took a wrong turning it was slow to recalculate although it is very quick to calculate the route in the first place.
Traffic coverage seems comprehensive, it has re-routed me once without problems.
I had difficulty entering some destinations - including Heathrow Airport(!) and an address in Milton Keynes.
There are no POIs or search facility - I assume they want you to use the phone in service.
Ipod music stopped for instructions and didn't resume after, very frustrating.
I also have Tomtom and Navigon. I will probably continue to use Tomtom (my preferred app) most of the time but use Trafficmaster when I am likely to encounter traffic (until Tomtom gets it act together with live services). |

Hi
I have sent an email to trafficmaster regarding the lack of speed camera alerts and also the lack of Ipod control. Within a couple of hours I received the following reply:
Thank you for your email below and for your comments on the Smartnav Mobile application. With regards to the iPod issue you are experiencing I have passed your comments onto the Development team to consider for future releases of the application.
With regards to the speed camera query you had, this is something that is currently in Development and we hope to have this launched in the early part of 2010.
If they can get both of these done this will indeed be an excellent application in my view. _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |

You can configure a double click of the home button to bring up iPod controls. Not sure if this is a 3GS only thing though, but it's damn useful. |

Thank you for the info I have already tried this but the trafficmaster system kills the ipod upon loading. _________________ Please follow me on twitter @mdyson1968 |

On my system - the phone has a wired connection to an Alpine head unit - the music will play but is paused for an instruction but doesn't resume after. I have to press play on the Alpine to resume the music after each instruction. |
