Can anyone point me to details, e.g. on the TT web site, giving dimensions of the different models?

I'm looking for a case for a 940 and on this page Arkon give details of 2 hard cases both listed as suitable for "GO 520, 530, 720, 730, 930" but there is no mention of the 940 or 950. From memory, the 940 is not as deep as the previous models, but is the "face" the same size? If the case fits, but is too deep, I can pop in some foam, but I'd like a snug fit so that it doesn't rattle around.

If those cases wont suit, can someone recommend a good, cheap source for a 940 case?

Hi Jock, hope this helps - I have just measured my 730 with a ruler:-

119mm wide x 85mm high (77mm at edges) x 26mm deep (12mm at edges).

I have a 940 and a 530 both with the TomTom original cases and they are not interchangeable. The 530 is thicker than the 940 case so it wont shut and the 940 is wider than the 530 so wont go in (it will if you really force it).

I looked at several case before I bought one for the 940 and I chose the TomTom one as it was a hard case with a sprung hinge (like an old spectacle case) and only just thicker than the unit itself. The 530 TomTom case is semi hard with a zip.

Thanks MrT! Looks like I need a n40 specific case! Is this the one you have?

Does anyone know if the external dimensions of the n40 & n50 the same?

x40 and x50 are identical in terms of external dimensions, only whats inside the 940 vs 950 is slightly different (the 950 contains a bit more free space internally than the 940 due to the missing FM Tx aerial) - Mike

The n40 hard case is indeed very good, except for one thing. The interior is lined with a flock coated plastic which is very thin and very brittle; it cracks very easily and it is definitely not suitable for the hinge area which has broken up completely. I am trying to find a thin self adhesive rubber sheet to replace the interior of the case.

Yes and the lining on mine has also split on the hinge but that does not yet cause me any problem.

I have always used soft cases intended for the Nintendo DS Lite portable games thingy for the wide-screen TomTom Gos in our household (x20,x40,x50).

Cheap and easily available.
The ones I try to get look like this:

and I get them from "Game" shops.
Although they often have an embroidered picture of Mario or Sonic on them, you can usually find a plain one.

Alternatively, for the One XL which has it's windscreen mount attached, I used a portable hard drive case, which is rigid and a bit deeper. They are widely available from PC World, Staples etc.

Picky! It's a damn good job we had John Wayne and Errol Flynn - if we'd had to rely on you worrying about pedantry, we'd have lost the war.

You forgot Ronald Regan. Now he WAS really a leader, and he was elected as such as well.
