I would like to transfer many mp3 files to my GO 730.
I know that they must be mp3 and that they must go into a file called mp3 but what I do not know is whether they can be in subfolders inside the mp3 folder.
Perhaps this info is in the user guide but at present I do not have a copy to hand and will not get one until i return home in a couple of days.
I did a search in this subforum for music and i got 480 posts, none of which seemed to have anything whatsover to do with music.
Am I the only one that gets huge numbers of posts like this? |

Just so you don't have to wade through the manual....
Yes, you can organise the music into folders under \mp3. I have it so I have the group as a folder and then each album as a folder under that.
Works a treat

Just be aware that the TomTom won't use the folder structure to decide what to call songs/albums/artistes etc. All of that is done from the ID tags in the mp3 files themselves. If they are wrong or incomplete, the TT will make a pigs ear of it.
If it bothers you, you can use a tag editor (there's one built in to iTunes) to sort them out. |

Thanks for the info on mp3 tags.
I have a mp3 tag editor so I can view all the tags for the mp3 files.
What do I need to look for int he tag to ensure that it has the necessary information for my TomTom 730.
Can you offer any help with the format of the tag ans what it all means? _________________ David

Sorry for the delay replying, been off-line for a couple of days.
Nothing complicated in the tags as far as I know.... Using iTunes, I just make sure the Artist, Title, Album and Track number fields look right. |
