Hi
I have the classic TT One which uses the sd card for everything, A friend has a TT later model that has an SD card slot but no SD card in it? If he puts a blank SD card in will the internal data all be transfered onto the SD card so that he can use it the same as the classic! or is it for a different purpose altogether!
Hope your all well and enjoying your driving!

Dunc, we need to know if your mates device is an XL or a Go x20/ x30 or x40 device as this makes a significant differance to how it handles the memory card, the XL cannot share files/ folders between the built in memory and the memory card, the Go x20/ x30 and x40 can share memory between the two locations as long as files are put in correctly named folders on the card - Mike

In which case the device can share the two memory locations as one provided the folders used are correctly named, adding a shed load of music is one example and as long as the folder on the SD card is named "mp3" (without the "" and it must be all lower case) any mp3 audio tracks or folders containing mp3 tracks placed in to this folder will be found by the device and be usable.
Another option would be to add another map folder such as the North American map or Australian map which can reside on the SD card and the device will find them quite happily - Mike

If all the files from the built in memory were transferred to the sd card so they exist only on the card will the device work from that?

That is correct. I think you will find Mod Andy_P runs his 720 precisely like that, nothing on internal and everything on a sdhc card.

Yes that's what I wodered! All the internal stuff put onto the SD card, It makes it so much quicker to copy or download from a card reader than by using leads to the machine ang going the TT Home route.
Thanks every one for the info.

I do.... The internal memory slowly died over the course of a few weeks until it stopped working completely. So I put everything onto a 4GB SD card and have run it from that for over a year now. Makes no practical difference at all.

For info: You obviously need a lead, but you DON'T need to run Home if you want to copy stuff to and from the SD card while it is still in the Go - if Home starts up when you connect the Go, just shut it down again.

Windows Explorer just sees the internal memory and the SD card slot as two new drives. It's just as quick as using a card reader.
