Apologies if this has already been asked....I did do a search but couldn't find anything relevent.......
Predictably the UK database only covers the UK but does the EUR database also include the UK data or do I need to download both to ensure UK and Europe coverage ?
Thanks |

Read the download page carefully, or try looking at this thread.
A search on "UK database Europe" brings up a number of similar threads. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Beat me to it Anita. But I spent a while looking through the Download page to answer this without finding anything. Now, looking in the thread you mentioned I found that the format seems to have been changed since the example Darren showed in that thread - and the quote "EUR does not include UK" databases seems to have disappeared (And the reference "NOTE: Swiss cameras are not currently included in the EUR download") is now not on the main page but is in lower-level camera/country breakdown page)
Maybe I've missed it, in which case it must be in a less obvious place now, or it's not actually there anymore. - in either case, maybe it needs to be put back somewhere prominent. _________________ David

As the "EUR does not include UK" note etc is on the page where you choose which version/country of the file to download, it would seem to be in the right place in my view. _________________ Gerry

Quote: | Camera selections
EUR does not include UK!
SWISS cameras are NOT included in the EUR files! |
is, and always has been, on the page where you select which country / camera breakdown you want...?
not sure what the issue is?

If you say so, GerryC and MaFt, fair enough. But I STILL can't find it (though I don't need to cos I know!) . I can only find the Swiss reference on the download page. But as we seem to get this query every few weeks (or was it just the last few?), something could be clearer, surely? _________________ David

Choose system and you get the country selection. There you will find the warning displayed as seems sensible?
Its directly adjacent to the selection box. Yes some people miss it but then as we know, you can only go so far in trying to warn people, many will not read the warnings no matter how big or red we make them

This is a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't. Today's poster wants the big red circle over that particular item. Yesterday's poster wanted it over the entry about finding the breakdown of cameras. Tomorrow's poster will want it over something else. After shifting the big red circle daily for a fortnight, we'll come back to the one over the Eur cameras. Then back round them all again. I don't know the answer - I have this (hard earned) reputation for not RTFM-ing, so who am I to say "Read the stuff on the page"? _________________ Dennis

Thanks for that guys - I did find it eventually. I still think though that this question springs to mind when someone new STARTS looking at downloading - on the FIRST page, before they 'commit' themselves to the download - hence these repeated queries (it's all very well "RTFMing on the page" DennisN, as long as you know which FM to RT ). Would be simple and to the point if the info was next/near Quote: |
Click here to see a full breakdown of both UK and International cameras in the current database. | on that first page.
It's a bit like the slight nervousness I get about on-line surcharges where they don't tell you until you are about to press the 'pay' button (but not as important ). So if everyone's happy to keep answering this particular question, that's fine by me . _________________ David

As ther is a big white space to the right of the selection box on both pages, why not just make the note bigger. It's only marginally larger than MaFt's signature at the moment |
