Can anyone tell me if I can increase the number of waypoints that I can load onto my TTG 700. I have used the itn converter to transfer the waypoints from AR 2007 but it has only transferred about half the waypoints from my planned trip through Europe. Is it just a case of splitting the waypoints into sections to upload to the TTG700.
if so I am a little surprised as the itn file I copied across to my TTG is only 4kb.
Thanks for your help.

I don't think this is an AR problem! There is a limit to the number of points that TT allows in an ITN (48?). Try splitting the trip into sections. _________________ Jock

Humble apologies for going off track, but can somebody point me at how to do itineraries in AR2007 for putting into my TT, please. I've spent ages looking at the AR Help getting precisely nowhere! _________________ Dennis

Thanks for that, its what I thought but it would have been nice to be able to increase the number of waypoints stored, |

To plan a route you just use Route/Route Planner then type in the name of the place you want to start from and then do the same for the destination and Route/Get Directions or (Control & F5). In Route/More Options/Segments you can chose whether to go quickest or shortest etc.
If the route shown is not quite the way you want to go then you simply add a pushpin (or several) along where you would like the route to take you to create you chosen itinary. When you place a pushpin on the map you have to right click the pushpin and then Route/Add as a stop. Then when you have added all the pushpins you go to Route/Get Directions again to update the route with your added pushpins. You can then look at the various segments (Route/More options/Segments and amend each individual segment to either shortest or quickest or your preferred roads etc.
Once you have your route sorted then name & save it in chosen folder and shut down Autoroute.
Download a programme called itn converter (link is on this website) then use the programme to convert the Autoroute 'axe' file to an 'itn' file and then connect your Tom Tom to your computer and transfer that itn file into the ITN folder on your TomTom. The instructions are given with the itn converter programme.
I've just used it to transfer my plan from Autoroute to my TTG700 but as I've just had verified the max number of waypoints you can store on the TTG700 is 48 which is usually more than enough for most itineries. |

Hi folks
I too used Autoroute quite in the past but Google Maps/Tyre leaves the Microsoft Autoroute in the shade. My courier drops and holidays on the continent are all now done with Tyre. Its better and there is no converting to do. I thought Autoroute was a thing of yester year. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Very true, I am taking my laptop and a bluetooth GPS with me as a back up to use with AR2007 if my TomTom goes haywire. Also it should prove very handy as a detailed general map of Europe. But I can see the benefit of using the more accurate and updated Google maps if you just want to plan a route and transfer the waypoints to your Sat Nav. |

So how does one use Tyre with Google Maps?
I can do it OK using Tyre and Google Earth but can't seem to find a way to do it with Google Maps!
I suppose I'm overlooking something but can't see what!

When I open Tyre I see an icon to "Run Google Earth" but no mention of "Google Maps".
When I read the Help file it only tells you how to plan a route in Google Earth.

Hi pushandpull
Sorry Ken, I have been out on an overnight trip and have only just returned. However, in the meantime I see that ‘dhn’ has given you the Link to the Google Maps explanation. Let us all know how you get on.
By the way, dhn, that Link is very handy and I have saved it for future folk who may need an explanation. Thanks. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Thanks for your help guys but I have found the problem myself.
My own stupid fault! - Isn't is always?
In Tyre/Preferences/General the first option is "Run Google Earth instead of Google Maps" and this was ticked!.
.
Happy bunny now!

Thanks for the link. Those instructions are useful but am I missing something? I thought you could put the waypoints in then use Tyre to sort them into a logical route. But when I tried it, it had a route that doubled back on itself and I had to sort the order myself. _________________ TT Go Essential |
