|

Hi all,
I have downloaded the Zip file for the community/toilets POI. Unfortunately when I unzip it, it does not contain the files I was expecting i.e. 'Bank.ov2 and Bank.bmp' but only contains 'POI's File' which is 29Kb in size.
1) Have I done something wrong or missed something?
2) The advice on installing it seems to vary from installing the extracted files in the 'Western Europe' map folder on my TomTom (930T) or putting them on the SD card. Which is correct assuming I can get the right file to unzip?!
I'm guessing I've done something stupid but have never had a problem with the speed camera database which is of a similar ilk!
Thanks in anticipation |

Downloading the POI files is a bit different to the Speed cameras, because they are compiled on the fly to be as up-to-date as possible, while the Speed cameras are a single release for the week.
The mechanism for the POIs does give some people/browsers a problem and if it goes wrong you can get the result you got.
Try again and this time try ticking the "show link" option.
Not sure why you were expecting "Bank.ov2" and "Bank.bmp" if you downloaded the "Toilets" POI though!
The download is called "POIs.zip" and once you've un-zipped it to extract the contents, the actual files for the Toilet POIs should be "Public_Toilet_PGPSW.ov2" and "Public_Toilet_PGPSW.bmp" (the .bmp file is just the icon picture you see on screen).
--------------------
Where you put them....
The POI files need to go in the folder of the map you are using, just like the Speed Camera files.
Where that is depends on your TomTom model. In general, if your TomTom came with an SD card in the slot, then the map folder will be on there, and if the slot was empty or there's no slot at all, then the map folder will be on the internal memory.
If you've managed to copy the Speed Camera files OK, then the process *is* just the same for other POIs. |

Thank Andy
I have been playing whilst waiting for a reply and finally got it to work !
I tried ticking the 'link' box and downloaded the POI from that page - et voila - a differently named zip file containg the files I needed! I put them in my map folder, rebooted the TT and they they were!
I think I got the 'bank' file names from the instructions for the speed camera database!
Perhaps a set of instructions for installing POI's for thickies like me may be a good idea or did I fail to find those too!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your help, much appreciated. |

Quite agree. Usually we point people to the instructions to install the Speed camera Database (as they are just POIs with added voice warnings), but a quick description of how to do it for the main brands of satnav on the POI download page itself would be agood idea. |
